thats not true at all...u can tell where other americans are from by there accent..there is a difference between different counties New Jersey. I speak a lot different from people in Jersey City..ane we all speak very different from the people in South Jersey...Its the same thing in New York...Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn all have different accents...dont even get me started on all those wierdos in Boston..lol

Admitedly the only American i have ever spoken to on this subject was a little simple.

I was watching American Weakest Link the other day, and i could tell roughly what part of America they were from before they even said.

But do you seriously have cities 30 miles apart with accents so different that people on the other side of the country can tell the difference?

PS. Why do americans often try to argue the point that we are the ones with the accent, rather than them? they started off talking like us but its us with the accent???

lol yea..jersey city is maybe 15 miles from me and they talk weird as hell....i do agree we are the ones with the accents though since it was yous guys who colonized us...but as far as america goes people out west and down south have the accents because we were settled first in the north east!!!!!

Do you rememeber Sean Maguire - he was in grange hill, then eastenders, then had a failed music career.

Well anyway he wasnt on tv here for like 5 years, then got his own (awful) sitcom in america. Now on this sitcom he plays a sterotypical english man, and he talks like the queen. He used to talk right essex.

Its called 'Off Centre', and its on E4 if you feel like not laughing for half an hour.

yeah.. boston peopel are messed up.. same for the peopel from Worcester (near boston), they call their town 'Wista' and if you go driving around in your cah..
