ok ok I get your point. I dont like whistle song too, but I liked it when I first heard it...

anyway: what's the deal with aquagen, besides that they are 'commercial'? Destination Dance rules, and I still like the 'why are you so quiet' song.

Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400, and all the clones [i.e
'R.B.A - no alternative'] suck BiGTIME!

ill make it pretty easy... if you hear it on the radio here, i dont like it!

pop is so shitty... especially when you hear the same (i got dicked over by a man) fucking song 15 times in a row... and you know they are all the same

rnb is just gay

i do like some rap though
mainly for the beats... hardly ever for the words (because they never make any fucking logical sense!)

however, i do like eminem... his tunes sound cool, plus i like the whole "fuck you all" theme... dunno just could be cause i end up saying that all the time

but trance is definitely where it's at!

ok to review some earlier posts, jazz has NOTHING to do with trance. actually it has nothing to do with most forms of music as we know it today. i dont listen to it, but it is a true art form based on creativity requiring incredible improvisational skills. also to the guy who said "i hate boring classical music", well that IS the true origin of trance. listen to the strings, synths, and pianos in any uplifting song and you'll see what i mean. it may not be for you (just like rap isn't for me) so just dont listen to it, but dont bash the very first forms of music as we know it. (some jackass is gonna say there were tribal drums before classical music)

myself, i hate that aquagen/warp bros. crap now, i used to not mind it but that whole hard pulsing sound is overplayed IMHO. and repetitive. e.g. dj scot project
just not for me.

I have to agree with Patticus. Classical music (as boring as it may seem to you) is some of the greatst music ever written. You can learn more from listening to classical music than any other form as far as things like chord progressions, key changes, harmonies, arpeggios and such.
The guys that wrote that stuff are true masters. To think that they had to sit down with pen and paper and write everything note for note and to do it for 30 or 40 different instruments is pretty amazing. Just think if someone like Beethoven had the tools that we have today...like Reason or Cubase, VST or any of the music production software not to mention unlimited sounds to work with. They would be putting out some pretty awesome stuff.
And I bet the radio would still be playing shit.
Rap sucks!

I second u Johnny( both on classical and rap) Just think about the time a composer put in the production of a piece may amaze me. The emotion and context in classical is so extensive, it gives u a picture in motion.
The quality of a piece highly depends on an introduction of a theme, an then a reapearance of a veriation of the theme. The same idea apply to Trance.
On the other hand, a lot of the time, rap just has a monotonous repeat of a statement. And make it even worse, a lot of the rapper just put random lyrics to make it fit into the rythem.

peace

From all the replies that I read, I can draw the conclusion that you peeps don't know much about real rap/hiphop..whatever you call it...
I only see comments saying: "they only rap about tits and bithces and blablabla....", but that's so not true! Real hiphop (Paris, Public Enemy, N.W.A., Getto Boyz) is about discrimination, standing up for your rights, blame and more of that stuff. T
his shit is very educational and these people do make a lot of sense! I agree with you guys that nowadays rap isn't vey intelligent anymore, you know Puff Doofey (), Lil'Bow wow, even Nas (he used to think more about the world and stuff, now he's only interested in asses and money), but don't forget the gods of Hiphop!!!! And if you say that you hate rap because of the dirty language (it just makes me laugh very hard when I hear it), then why DO you like that Horrorist song: a night in New York? and I bet there are also "other" trance/progressive tunes with dirty language! (star 69 - fatboy slim, ->fucking great tune )

Anywayz, for me it's country & western, also NELLY FURTADO, girl/boybands and the commercial versions of great trance tunes!

well, freestyle rap is also about creativity and improvisation too. in that regard it is very similar to jazz, in terms of the skills required... not many other genres depend on this so much

i think mozart and beethoven are rolling in their graves when they hear people describe cambodia and flight 643 as "good music"
