| quote: | | CDJs serve one purpose, to play productions not yet pressed, any use outside of this is just plain stupid. |
Not true. CD turntables are an ALTERNATIVE to turntables, as they provide almost a exact same 'feel' your talking about but in a more convenient form...CDs are lighter, cheaper, more economical, and in sense, more practical. This gives way to the production aspect you mentioned: don't take it as a purpose, but rather see it as a method.

That's the DJ, not the turntables. Christopher Lawrence spun an entire set with only CD TTs...does that make you angry that a 'big time DJ' uses CDTTs? Lawrence is a pioneer in the American trance scene, and the global electronica community, so you can't say that just because he uses CDTTs he's not a 'real' DJ.
| quote: | | Who cares, beatmatching is an art made and perfected on Turn Tables. CDs take away not the look or prestige of a DJ but the FEEL. and that is what its all about, the feel. If i had to do a set with CDs i'd feel like i had a testicle removed and just couldnt perform. |
Again, CDs don't take away anything. I don't get how you came up with this idea that CDs are detrimental. As far as that testicle thing, that's your problem buddy.
| quote: | | Why is it that everyone who defends CDJs are computer mixers, and people who dont mix at all who use "Well paul van dyk uses em" as their only line of defense. |
I have been spinning on my 1200s for over a year. And PvD does use them.
| quote: | | Finally CDJs just seem so phony. And they look pretty stupid alone, yes i said look because youre giving a show and looks are important. not as important as sound but theyre important. That is another thing average *.mp3 --> CD-R CDJs dont have much talent mixing. |
This is ridiuclous. I respect your opinions and outlook on CDJs and what not, but this point your attempting to make serves no validity in your argument. This is pure opinion, and frankly, saying somthing like this, I really don't think anybody gives a monkey shit at this point after this. Where do you, or why do you say that CDRCDJs don't have much talent mixing? PvD uses them.

First of all, people and promoters dont' like CD dj's because they haven't proved the music is not stolen. If you play ripped MP3's you download online(Like I see people do here a lot), then you are a fucking cancer to the scene. It's not how well you spin, it's who you know. And no one wants to know a CD dj. Just ask around REAL promoters and DJ. DOn't ask the newbie wannabies on this site.
Records = DJ,
CD's = Mobil DJ top 40's.
The ONLY reason you should have CD's is if you are playing your own non-released tracks that you just made pre-press.

Something I forgot....
If you have your own cd library of mp3's, you could easily (yet lenghtly) convert all your track to a set bunch of bpm's (130, 140, 150) thereby making beatmatching a piece of piss.
Now, anyone who does this, is a loser, and anyone who doesnt, is stupid, because no one'll know.
The one CDJ back in Cape Town did this, but got found out, now ppl dont give him the time of day

if you set up the bpms like that, then its retarded. but dont take the negative stereotypes of cdjs, and use them on all cdj users, if someone is using vinyl turntables, and has a bpm counter, that is the exact same thing, and remember, it is not the equipment you use thatmakes you good or what not, it is how you use it, you can have belt driven tables and ifyou are good with them, you can do a monster set, you can also have 1200s and do a shit set if yous uck, again, it is about your skills, not equipment
