To clarify things:

Entering the ringtone directly into the phone only works on 3210, 3310, and possibly some other 3xxx models. Then you need the ringtone in Composer format or in Key-stroke format. There is a converter between those two formats.

For all other models you can only send a ringtone via SMS or hardware cable. You can use the program SmartSMS to send ringtones and other stuff via SMS. Then you need the ringtone in RTTTL format (see my last post above). I don't know if there's a converter between RTTTL and Composer formats, if anyone knows please let me in on it.

blarrg! how do you get it to not give you the invalid RTTTL code error! do you copy and paste the code in from here? how do you do it? i can'tttt dooo itttt...

Invalid RTTTL eh? Hehehe, well read my post above one more time before continuing...

Then go here and download the proggy:
http://web.one.net.au/~libertysport/Nokia/download.html

It will convert from Composer format into RTTTL. Paste that into SmartSMS or nokring. Many tones I tried sounded like crap though, so there might be differences that the program can't translate. Also, you might need to fill in the default duration and scale. Use nokring (link in my previous post) to try it until it sounds good.

To tell one format from the other, Composer format has spaces separating the notes, while RTTTL has commas (,) so the ones Cyberia posted for example is Composer format.

As for finding trancy ones, well... It's a jungle out there, and it's almost as bad as the warez site shit, with links and banners and pop-ups and god knows what!
