I love it when people talk about trance being "commercialized". All I have to say is come to the U.S. and visit the Midwest. Hardly anyone I know has ever heard of "Sandstorm". And those who have are DJ's and hardcore club types. There is NO trance music here at all. You go to a club - expect hip hop or house, cuz that's the extent of it.
On the bright side, people consider me to be "alternative" because I like trance. It's my own little thing and I kind of like it that way. I get little criticism because nobody's ever heard my music.
What I do hate though, is when you come across the occasional person who does know something about the scene and tells you that "trance is out" and that I should be listening to (fill in the blank). Now, I can deal with people's tastes whether they like Britney or the Baha Men, assuming that they actually like the stuff. But I HATE when people only like something because it's trendy. I mean, come on... I'm not going to stop listening to trance just because Mixmag says that it's "out" Give me a break!!

I kinda like the way that trance is not popular in where we live today. We're unique people living in our respective cities. We listen to music that hardly anyone within a 20 mile radius listens to cuz we're special in our own way. We're mysterious and I personally think that's cool. Foregt everyone else.
Trance is a mental thing. I like trance cuz out of all the other things that I ever listened to, I have to listen to a lot of words to understand music. Trance is more of a journey thing. It somehow organizes my life in the weirdest way. I vision things through trance music. Without it I'm lost.
I admit when I first heard trance I thought to myself, "What is this piece of junk that plays continuous beats over and over again." I honestly don't know why I gave it a chance, but I'm glad I did. Trance is the only thing I play. I play it when I'm on-line, play it when I eat, play it when I go to school, play it on the way back, and even play it in my sleep. People around me ask, have you heard the new Eminem, like I'm supposed to know what their talking about.
Sometimes I wish I could share trance to people around me, but we all know that's not gonna happen cuz trance is given a bad rap. (i.g.- It has repetitive beats, it should be played only at a club, only at night, only when you're messed up, etc). I'm pretty sure that alot of people listen and like trance to a certain extent but don't want to express themselves because of the negativity that it's been given. To me trance is not dead, it's just mistakenly informed.
I'm always glad to share my thoughts to trance lovers @ tranceaddict and I hope this site stays alive forever. It is this site that got me to prefer DJ's like Armin, Ferry, PvD, Tiesto and many more. I honestly don't know where I'd be without this site. Glad to be here. Keep on Trancin. Peace to you all.

some people cant handle the emotions that one gets out of this music... alot of it is intense to first timers... unless they can hear it in the correct setting, i think a lot of people get turned off.. i also often hear that it is to uplifting or not very masculine from guys... anyways, most of the people i show trance to like it a lot... give it time... its still relatively new
