bah

No emotion? The main reason I listen to trance is because it invokes emotion

Yeah, Stevie Wonder has no skills because he uses a piano. The only person with "true" musical tallent is Conan O'Brien with his Human Beatbox sound.

Unless the words in the song contain:

hoe
slut
bitch(es)
money
drugs
butts
ass
drunk
weed
car(s)
rims
rollin'
homie
G
guns
word

Thats about it..now take those and put them in a song:

I got mad hoes and sluts they be likin to be my bitches cus them bitches bring in da money so i can buy drugs and squeeze butts and look at fine ass while im drunk and smokin up weed rollin' in my cars with 15" rims ya hurd that homie G word! gunz.

There, thats your basic song that people listen to. What I mean is, unless it sounds like that, people hate it. :[

the problem is that some of us, TAs, sometimes say "yeah, i like trance" when they mean that they like house, or dnb, or whatever. i prefer to say "electronica"

another thing. whenever someone asks me what type of music i listen to, i always answer "techno", because it's so much easier to not have to explain the difference between techno and trance, and not look like an asshole, because if i answer "trance", the next question would be "what's that?". i mean, i explained it to one of my teammates, but to random people who ask me i just answer 'techno'.
i suppose in the future i'll answer "club music" or "dj music", to be more precise.

one more thing. dance isn't a genre, come on. i know they mean club dance type of stuff when they print "dance" on a GU cd, but any type of music could be classified as dance music, especially britney spears and the like.

and another thing. emotion? what emotions are those people talking about? the ones that pop & rap songs give? pffffffffffffffffffffffffft. electronica & classical are the only genres i can think of that can carry emotions without the help of lyrics. attention span, people, you need a longer attention spam. i luv the repetitive stuff, cuz when the breakdown comes after that, i can just cream my pants, it feels so great.

ok, my cue to stop talking.

Tell the people that com[plain about it being difficult to dance to coz of the break-downs these points:

1. Breakdowns are very useful for resting ones body, but having danced only to R&B, you've probably never broken a sweat on the dancefloor.

2. Breakdowns act as a 'teaser' hyping you up for incoming break, thus making you dance all out when it comes.

3. Breakdowns are HELLA KEWL ON DRUGS!!

Top reasons in HK
1. NO VOCALS
2. Too BORING, too LONG, WHERE IS THE MELODY
3. The sound is too weild, the melody is strange
4. Don't like dance music at all (but they like those hip hop and euro pop/dance pop LOL)

Hehe... See, I can avoid a lot of that because I do like pretty much any genre of music, and that's what I tell them. If they want me to get specific, I will - doing my best to point out some differences within the "electronica" group or whatnot.

Too true. Dancing to R&B, hip hop, or whatever, seems more like dancing in slow motion. You can't go absolutely nuts to some R&B song the same way you can when a DJ drops your favourite trance track.
