I love the ignorant comments too, like: "Dance, trance, techno - it's all the same thing." |
the problem is that some of us, TAs, sometimes say "yeah, i like trance" when they mean that they like house, or dnb, or whatever. i prefer to say "electronica"
another thing. whenever someone asks me what type of music i listen to, i always answer "techno", because it's so much easier to not have to explain the difference between techno and trance, and not look like an asshole, because if i answer "trance", the next question would be "what's that?". i mean, i explained it to one of my teammates, but to random people who ask me i just answer 'techno'.
i suppose in the future i'll answer "club music" or "dj music", to be more precise.
one more thing. dance isn't a genre, come on. i know they mean club dance type of stuff when they print "dance" on a GU cd, but any type of music could be classified as dance music, especially britney spears and the like.
and another thing. emotion? what emotions are those people talking about? the ones that pop & rap songs give? pffffffffffffffffffffffffft. electronica & classical are the only genres i can think of that can carry emotions without the help of lyrics. attention span, people, you need a longer attention spam. i luv the repetitive stuff, cuz when the breakdown comes after that, i can just cream my pants, it feels so great.
ok, my cue to stop talking.
