Can someone please tell me exactly what BT was doing on his laptop?

Most people thought he was using vinyl scratch, but I had suspected some type of real-time, click and drag, loop software.

Either way, it was very interesting, but I don't think I have ever seen a live pa set that had so much of other people's songs.

Peace,
Rich

So, I wasn't the only one in a bum mood over security guard/ herding of people issues?

Dripping ceiling sucked.

Past 3 pm and I'm still awake, unable to pry myself from computer. 2 days in a row like this. I gotta stop unnecessarily 'training' for the WMC (week of no sleep), or I'll be dead before my flight down there.

ok i'm dead tired, haven't slept yet and i've got to hold out until tonight, somehow...

ok yeah, anyways, here's my review...

got in pretty quick and was surprised there were no lineups anywhere the whole night actually, coat check incl. also the place never got packed, always had more than enough room...

got in at around 11:30, and ADDY was ripping it up, amazing warm up set!! BT continued exactly where ADDY left off and took it up a notch and was great!! however, holden's set was a huge letdown for me... I expected so much more from him... his track selection was all over and there was no flow to his set whatsoever... I liked the openning track, but thats about it... Ferry though, wow, what a surprise he was, simply an amazing set... he wasn't anthemic at all, and hearing solstice live finally, mmmmm, been waiting to hear it live for years...

but yea, overall it would have been 10/10 were it not for holden's boring set... :/

Based on what I read on previous performances by BT I wasnt really excited to see him. I was only really hoping that he'd play a bunch of his older tunes. And that he did, but to my surprise he managed threw down some really nasty beats in between which forced me to start bouncing around the place uncontrollably. Anyways yea I thought he was pretty good last night. I mean yea his *mixing* was off pretty badly on a couple of tracks (some mixes were totally off beat but youd still see him pumping his fists up in the air, god bless him lol). Godspeed towards the end was REALLY nice way to finish things up and overall on the whole id have to say that I liked him. Hes definately a good "performer" that carries alot of charisma and stage presence.

James Holden...hmmmmm...going into last night I didnt really know what to expect from him. I thought id hear a half decent set but at the same time I wasnt really expecting anything mindblowing from him either. Well his set last night was definately a pleasant surprise for me. It was easily one of the better sets I have heard in a while. OK so hes no Diggers or Howells when it comes to technical skills but the choones he dropped last night were AMAZING! As mandapanda mentioned it was soooooooooooo cool hearing Smith and Selway - Move. I wasnt expecting that AT ALL!!! AT ANY CLUB!!! EVER!!! Anyways yea he FUCKING KILLED IT. And I thinks its safe to assume that with time he will only get better and better. That being said James Zabiela still > James Holden!

Also I just had to point out the amazing job that Manzone and Strong did last night/have done everytime that I have gone to the Drink. For some odd reason, Tranceaddict does not seem to be giving any love to these two FANTASTIC DJS! And so, without trying to sound like too much of a ballwasher *lol* ive taken it upon myself to give these guys some well deserved credit. Last night as has been the case with all the other times I have gone to the Drink they totally FUCT SHIT UP. As the night rolls on they progressively get GRIMMIER! DARKER! PHILTHIER! NASTIER! They play lots of REALLY REALLY GOOD *chunky*tribally*rolling*tech funk*. Think along the lines of their *Comfort Zone,*Amigos Boat Cruises* styles. Anyways I just wanted to let the people of Tranceaddict know that there is a extremely happening party going on every Saturday that goes until the wee hours of the morning with some of the freshest and nastiest beats this city has to offer. K yea I know its the Drink, and I know how *most* of you feel about that place and its *dude*bud*patrons* but most of the dude bud population leave early anyways and its really not that bad after bar hours. They play to a full crowd until at least around 5/6 every Saturday and its definately a party worth checking out. Anyways I just wanted to say that you guys ROCK and keep up the amazing work. I cant wait for the Amigos Boat Cruises (Itikia and Swamper know what im talking about lol)...only a couple of more months to go *sigh*

And K so overall id have to say that last night was a REALLY FUN NIGHT for me. Lots of good tunes + LOTS of VERY pretty girls + me being totally FUCT up *lol* ========== a VERY fun time for me...!

10/10

And now its time to see if I can TRY and take another extended break from partying until Easter Weekend (the annual Idream party with ONE of my FAVORITE DJS on the planet in Steve Lawler alongside Tom Stephan and Desyn Masiello. And who could forget the PVD kidnapping project @ Viva) although JVM and Tomiie in early April look pretty tempting.

I know the girl on the left as well, a damn good dancer and a nice person to talk to. Although i didn't really get a chance to see her last night. Personally, i'd take a candy raver convention to the meat heads that were running rampant last night. At least the ravers are don't carry a BS attitude with them, and they keep their friggin shirts on !

haha I find it interesting how the TA's are complaing moreso than the Tribers (who are reknown for being extremely picky).

Holden needed another hour man, thats all. And if you consider the fact that he had to come off after the fucking Showboat and before mr.trance_in_my_pants, I thought he did an excellent job.

Holden was so fucking funny. Who saw him pouding JD straight out of that bottle? hahaha

best is when i asked him bout takin that whole bottle down himself "oh no that wasnt me" (in a pleasent schoolboyish manner)

later on when ferry was on, he was on stage bopping his head to ferrys set and in a short while after that, he was lying flat out over the monitor speakers behind doin some tweaking for ferry

damn cool guy

I saw him pounding the JD, lol!

Kytracid- Mel wasn't there last nite- the guy who started the thread made up that whole story- he never went (re-read the 1st post). That pic looks really old cuz Mel looks real young in that pic.
