However, when I heard my first vinyl after hearing the same song over mp3 many times over (Sasha - Xpander), I was blown away. The acoustic qualities of a well maintained vinyl take the cake, and you can encode at 320KBS and piss everyone off with a 30 meg mp3 and it will never even come close.

So, for artists who need to get heard, vinyl is not necessary. However, vinyl is better, and supporting the artist who has released on vinyl is better...

My thoughts upon the topic...

As many have said before, I think that if it's attainable on vinyl (or CD) then the DJ should get it. I mean, sure it's important for a DJ to make a profit, but if there's this 1 track that some famous DJ can't get then sure go ahead and burn it. If anything it'd be promoting this unknown song, such as with ppk and oakenfold as already mentioned before.

And anyways, DJing isn't all about making a profit, if it is then he/she is spinning for the wrong reason. If they love the music then I don't see how it could be so hard to shell out the cash to get a certain vinyl or CD. It'd be helping the industry and the DJ would get better quality tunes. It's all about the DJs loving the music and helping out the scene (wow that sounded corny)

And that comment about AVB or Tiesto buying vinyls... I don't think they'd have too much of a financial problem doing so

I hate when djs spin mp3's cuzz it makes it that much harder to find a unique track....that noone is playing i like for some dj not to be able to access certain tracks it gives each dj a different sound...but nowadays it seems everyone sounds the same...

Honestly, I am sick of reading these cry baby threads. Sure, labels are starting to feel the affects of teh ECONOMY. Just like businesses in the world, record labels are not immune to inflation and bancruptcy. This community, the trance community is supposed to be about the music and the emotion. Now it has turned into a big cock fight with attitude!! Everyone has an opinion, everyone needs to get one up. Just shut the fuck up and live your life the way you want to live it. Hey, ya can't afford to buy turntables and you like the music, here burn this CD and experience this great music!

I do understand the labels arguements regarding burned CDs and MP3s. Unfortunately that is the way of this culture. I don't download the music for an reason then to experience the art. It is just like buying a print of a painting...It's not the same. It sounds like shit and ya can't mix it anywhere close to the way you can with vinyl.

Why don't labels release their tracks on CD and vinyl. Single CD singles as an original release. If I could walk into a recordstore and buy any track on CD, I would...I con't do that in New York, or anywhere. I follow a specific style and specific artists. Then I follow the artists that artists plays in his or her sets. Those artists do not release their tracks on CD. I spin CDs. That is how I started and I stuck with it. It sucks and I wish I spun vinyl, but I don't.

I love this music and everything about it. Stop bitching and moaning. Without my music and this community, events like WAR might drive me crazy. This is my passion and I have all of my heart in it. I hope that I would receive the same amount of respect from the "pro" DJs and my peers as I give them for their love of the music.

I just do it exactly the way I enjoy listening to it. This is most of the time it is with banging beats. It is even with a soft thing, a soft melodic idea, or whatever. I still like to have it rocking. Keep in mind what this music is made for, first of all. Its not made to be easy listening on the radio. Its not made to be easy listening in television. Its actually kick ass in the club. This is what music is. This is the purpose of this art form...to listen to it and let the frequencies actually blow you away. --Paul Van Dyk

i mean by very nature the track is compressed, which means less sound quality than .wav ( CD ) and of course vinyl?.

i dont care what 196kbs crap you try and string along, its still
compressed which is worse quality than wav or vinyl.

somebody please explain this too me!

This is takling about 256mp3s and its says its good enough....

Files downloaded from the Anjunabeats.com Web Store are now 256kbit/sec MP3 files, encoded directly from original Anjunabeats masters using the best sounding encoder available today. The sound quality is virtually indistinguishable from the full-rate masters and Above & Beyond chose this format as it offers best size/quality ratio and is easily good enough to play in clubs and for listening to in even the best of studios.
