Iio - Rapture (Armin van buuren mix) has to be my favourite vocal tune of all time ! absolutely amazing ! I don't think he has lost it lately, its just that he has lostit ! its just that he spends countless amounts of hours on his djing and he is in VERY big demand at the moment, and it is hard to keep an even balance between djing/producing ! His new album, however will be the bomb we have all been waiting for !

GET OVER IT!

Armin is one of the nicest most down to earth DJ's and he is more in touch with his fans than almost any other DJ I've seen. I think that is one of the greatest things about him, regardless of what he spins.
What other DJ does anything close to what ASOT is?
What other DJ is gonna sit in a chatroom and talk with his fans, and tell them how he produced certain tracks?

calling any DJ a god is perposterous, calling any person a god is perposterous for that matter.
So no, I dont think Armin is a god, but I think he is a damn good DJ, a damn good producer, and a damn good guy.

Edit: and all you haters just wait till his new album comes out, I agree that song for the ocean isnt the greatest, but that's one song off a whole album. You'll see...

well said beema....but as u can tell from my sig, HE IS A GOD!!!

My two cents:

I love Armin's production style. That said, I'd like to see him use a new bass line. Not that it's a bad thing to use it over and over (see Paul van Dyk), but hopefully there'll be some variation on the album.

Armin's live sets are another thing altogether. Having seen Armin 3 times in the past year and Tiesto, Ferry and PvD once each, I can say that NO-ONE matches van Dyk in the mixing department. But when it comes to crowd interaction and getting a few thousand people going completely nuts, Armin is way out ahead of the field. His track selection has been perhaps a little repetitive (although I have seen him 3 times in 6 months), but it's not like it's the Northern Hemisphere summer or anything atm.

Honestly, if I wanted to hear someone mix, I'll go see PvD. If I want high-energy uplifting trance, I'll see Ferry. If I want it a little harder and darker, I'll see Tiesto.

But when I want to see the DJ having the time of his life, and the crowd doing the same, Armin van Buuren is the man.

I'm personally sick of all these people whining about how trance was better 4 years ago. If they really feel that way, they should write their own tracks and stop wasting their time (and everyone elses) by making stupid posts.

Well before last year i never really listened to Armin at all. I mean occasionally some of his productions but he was always second rate in my opinion, but then after ASOT came along he opened my eyes. I dunno i mean it weird i cant really express into words i mean, he may burn himself out, as a matter of fact I stopped listening to ASOT, im tired of yet another day, so i guess he very well may. I mean its a very well known formula not to over expose your self and Armin is floating the line between getting over the hump and over exposure, well see what he does this summer.

Armin has been my favorite DJ and producer for a very long time, and in fact he still is!

In my opinion he's one of the last real 'trancers' out there, and therefore I hope he doesn't change his style too much in future! His DJ skills are awesome and his album will be surely great.

i think as a producer he's not the most amazing out there, also needs a bit more originality.. Blue Fear and Communication were amazing at its time, now it's just another good uplifting tunes (I like Song For The Ocean btw). But as a DJ he's the best of the trance scene IMO. Tiesto is inovating and exploring new subgenres as tech-trance, but his sets seem to be just tunes in random order with not-so-great mixing; Ferry never was amazing, just anthems after anthems; Oakenfold is a pop star; Van Dyk is probably the one who can compete with Armin, but I personally don't like his style..

If it wasn't for Armin, good old uplifting could be dead by now. He's the only consistent dj mixing trance old-style. He's not a pioneer, but he doesn't need to be.

Just listened to a rip of Song of the Ocean and it's actually not that bad - in fact it seems quite different (more subdued) to some of his other stuff. Mind you at the end it is mixed into Sunburn, which is in the same key and has almost the same bassline

Armin is Armin is Armin. As stated he produces his style and that suits my tastes.

Re his ability to DJ; a 4 hour set @ Gas in Sydney a matter of weeks ago so flawless mixing, and a tracklist that was up there with anything i've EVER heard.....moving is an understatment.....finishing with the hiver and hammer remix of yet another day. Talk about epic. Oh by the way, he did that with one hell of a cold. He was really sick as confirmed in an interview before hand and a friend talking 2 him in dutch to his g/f asking how was armin feeling.

Armin plays the style of progressive trance into epic/uplifting trance that I LOVE. To me Armin is god.

If Armin produced another style I'd hope he'd call hime sell Nimra or something because it wouldn't be armin.

Can't please everyone all the time But he's certianly pleased me and many other like myself from the AU.TA Massive.
