I was surprised Walt brought up the GPS to Hank. Wouldn't it be to his advantage not to let Hank know that he knows he's being watched? Usually when Walt screws up it's due to hubris, but I don't see how that applies here. |
He was on a fishing expedition and he was determined to catch some fish. When he didn't take the worm, he pulled out the lures, as no experienced fisher packs only one kind of bait.
Remember that Walt has a couple of years experience now.
I can totally see your point about hubris, but he clearly found the need to know, greater than the security provided by staying silent.
Also, the times he's fucked up, he's always been right in the middle of things, and while the snowball seem to have started rolling again, it's at a slow pace, and I think Walt still sees things pretty clearly.
Plus, it's a real curveball to the pace of the whole series, great way to shake things up and let the viewers know their in for something a little different.
Can't wait till sunday to see how the episode starts
