Are you saying people who put their tracks on cd's including producers do it for the money and dont put out their heart and soul to make a song sound great and a mix sound great?

CD decks are getting better all the time. Closer to vinyl. At some point they will be able to emulate vinyl. Yes vinyl looks better but you can have just as much fun with cds. Plus storing and finding tunes on cds is so much easier. Vinyl is ok when you don’t have a big collection. But when you have thousands of tunes form the last 10 years like I do it’s not practical. I had to record my vinyl to CDR. Now I can find any tune I want within seconds. All my mates have vinyl but have some banging tunes missing from there collection because they couldn’t get hold of the vinyl.

It’s the music that counts not the format!!!!!!!!!!

i know i'm going to have to say goodbye vinyl someday, but man, do i love the feeling of those grooves on my fingers....

Ok, so say I were to start DJing today, what would you guys say.. vinyl or cd

i enjoy both. if you have some spare cash they i say give vinyl a go. i love it. but if you had to chose from one or the other id say cds.

I dont know, but I do think its kinda cool that your selling drugs with your sig =)

IMO a good DJ should be well versed in vinyl, CD, and computer mixing.

Get a job, get decks (SL-1200MKIIs, the Katanas of DJing techology). and buy vinyl with some brains. Avoid big names and flashy jackets.

All of the above mentioned shops have loads of records you can only get on vinyl and that means exclusivity instead of being stuck with the same tracks from "popular" artists who actually suck ass - played by all the cheapskate "trendoid" munckins with digital toys.

You're completely wrong there. I use both vinyl (3 Technics MK2's) and CD's, and I've got a combined music collection worth over $2,000. I can get songs on MP3 atleast a week before I can get the vinyl. No limit in my selection either, I can get just about anything on mp3 that I can get on vinyl. I prefer vinyl mixing, however if I want a song the absolute fastest, the best way is to download it and burn it on a CD. With DJ'ing as we know it progressing into the next era, if you can't mix both vinyl and CD then you are truely getting left behind.
