well... i went to see him last night.
I have to say, I was pleased to hear DJs that could actually mix for once in Brisbane, but the Warm-up DJs kind of fucked it up for Paul Van Dyk.
The crowd was great, and everyone was really positive and excited. The warm-up DJs kind of abused this, and they filled the night with a lot of energy, and they really soaked it up for themselves. One guy did the jesus pose nearly every breakdown, and the other guy just tried to be cool all the time.
It was kinda obvious paul was pissed. He went into the booth, and the DJ that was in there (DJ Jesus Pose) wanted to shake his hand, I didn't see Paul shake them. I think he just ignored him.
Anyways, Paul Van Dyk completely fucked up the first or second transition, but the rest of the set was incredible. It was really high energy, like the Energy set, in 2003. Maybe it was to make up for the warm-up DJS. It wasn't at all like the Jahre Maximale set. Lots of tracks i hadn't heard before. But the crowd was pretty tired already, and weren't very responsive. But everyone did enjoy themselves, and spent every bit of energy they had left.
At the end, everyone wanted him to play 1 or 2 more tracks, and we were all shouting "one more song, one more song", and chanting his name. He opened up his laptops again, but the asshole Family night club people told him not to play anymore.
I think this pissed a lot of people off, and someone walked out of the fire exit in the club. So the Fire Brigade rocked up outside, and the club probably has to pay for it. HA HA.
