MUSICAL REVIEW
Due to the sheer amount of talent in Miami in March it's pretty tempting when one is down in Miami to do to the big show, see the big DJ, come back with DJMag Top10 on the "saw @ WMC" list.
I looked at Miami as an opportunity to see new DJs and expose myself to DJs and music that I haven't necessarily listened to before. Although I did see many of the big ones, I left Miami having found a few new (for me at least) DJs and sounds that whet-my-whistle.
Here is who I actually saw/listened to while in Miami:
Thursday @ Space: Sean Miller, Clive Henry, Steve Lawler, M.A.N.D.Y, DJ T.
Saturday @ Ultra: Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Me@t K@tie, Carl Cox, Danny T, Prodigy, Erick Morillo, DJ Hell, Nic Fanciulli, Seb Fontaine, DJ Dan, Paul Oakenfold
Saturday @ Crobar: Carl Cox
Sunday @ Crobar: Victor Calderone, DJ Vibe, Murk
Monday Morning @ Cafeteria: Steve Lawler, Audiofly (Tiesto chillin')
Tuesday Afternoon @ Clevelander Hotel: Chus & Ceballos
Tuesday @ Shine: Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman
Tuesday @ Nocturnal: D-Formation, Pedro del Moral, Lee Kalt, Simon & Shaker, Eric Entrena
Personal Favorites:
- Nic Fanciulli (uberhaus)
- M.A.N.D.Y. (german elektro haus masters)
- Me@t K@tie (fine breaks)
- Adam Beyer (ubertech)
- DJ Vibe (world's best tribal)
I would recommend any of the personal favorites. I had never heard any of them before and musically I enjoyed those DJ's more than any others during my week in Miami. All DJ's on my personal favorites list get the "GO SEE THEM!" stamp of approval - if they come to Toronto, make sure you go seem them.
