Gonna take this way off topic

it wasnt so bad when he had a laptop at first because he was still using famous PVD reworks

Final Scratch (1): 2003-2004
Final Scratch 2: 2004-2005
Serato (on and off): 2005

Ableton 2006 - current

One of the best sets I ever heard out of him in the 60-70 times i have seen him was November 4th 2005 Space Miami. Many many others agree. He went back from Serato to Final Scratch 2 that night and it was great.

Next time I saw him was January 6th 2006 at Spirit in Hollywood FL, worst set ever. and I mean ever............ First time I saw him on Ableton. Its a shame because I heard he just got through tearing the roof off of IKON in NYC for new years a couple days before

just listen to Rosenmontags transitions - you can clearly hear some pitch work and other little funky artifacts - just insanely amazing. Shame PvD said fuck all with old, in with the new. Hasn't been the same since. I hate to reminisce about good ol' turntable days but at least you could see that DJ was actually spinning. These days, ******s may as well stick a burned CD and go on the facebook or check emails, just twiddle some knobs on a disconnected interface controller. Bleh. I'm old-fashioned...

How come they didn't broadcast Tiesto? Does anyone know the tracks he played? I was there but didn't know a bunch of them.

Tiesticle doesn't permit broadcasting of his sets.

My main goal was to play a warm-up set for the crowd that showed up at Randalls Island that day to hear me play...and for whats its worth, they seemed pretty into it. Not sure what you would want to hear at 11:15 in the morning at the beginning of a 12 hour festival day...?

Out of curiousity, what kind of music do you usually listen to? I only ask because "warm-up" music is completely subjective and relative to the situation and the lineup. I got to check out some of the warm up acts in some of the other tents before and after I played, and some of those djs played straight up deep house. But it was totally perfect for the time of day, setting, and the crowd at the time. Of course, if you were to tune in expecting to hear trance bombs that early, you might very well be in for a "mindnumbing experience" as you put it.

no offense buddy, just my opinion. and what does me being in TX have anything to do with it? I wasn't there but my experience at hundreds of festivals tells me i would have been bored out of my brain. send me an example of one of your 'peak-time' sets to give me a better idea of what you actually spin.

for good examples of warm-up sets at Electric Zoo that i preferred check out Joris Voorn & Nic Fanciulli. Also Jaytech. I personally would have played some deep house/tech house/disco stuff..or classic trance for a daytime warmup set.

The fact that you were listening from Texas, and not actually at the festival, kind of makes a difference. You don't really have much perspective on when people actually played, and to what kind of crowd they played for. For the first half of my set, there were only a handful of people in the tent... People were only just arriving. As a dj, you would play classic trance in that situation?

Also, you referred to Nic Fanciulli and Joris Voorn's set as a good 'warm-up' set... They played from 3:30-5:00PM in the Carl Cox tent...a pretty peak time slot really. So, you thought you were listening to a 'warm up' set from them on the broadcast, and you were actually listening to their peak time stuff... See what I mean?

Anyway, its all good if you didn't like the set. As I said, I was playing to the crowd that showed up that day, and they seemed to enjoy it. Thats really all I can ask for.
