Ive never been to The Parc or Adams County Fair and am trying to decide which event i should bring people who have never been to a rave before. excluding the talent, which venue would you say is a better setup for a massive? For these first timers i want them to get a true massive with visuals and what not as opposed to just the music since they are very new to it (they dont know they differences between electronic genres yet).

The two events being skylab and PVD.

DJ Dan added to Halloween shindig lineup.

His booking says the Budweiser Event Center - I think they are messing with us as far as venue for this party, lol.

massives in colorado mostly disappeared years ago in colorado. there is the occasional, mostly private warehouse or woods gathering that can attract randoms.

but thats generally what you get. random people, questionable music and no guarantee how far you will have to travel.

most of the impressive shows will be limited to the church, vinyl or a random concert venue if you care at all about the music. red rocks is THE only impressive venue in CO, but it follows all the rules of a typical concert and not a massive.

we get more and more important artists and shows in colorado, but with limited clubs, arenas and less exposure - there arent any underground shows that attract more than randos, much less decent music.

i dont necessarily agree with the clientèle of many 'massives' but in terms of possibility colorado could do better. (its not like there isnt space, scenery or visibility in terms of artists)

if people are 18 up, try the church, its filled with similarly aged people, while vinyl is 21 plus, its a bit more classy, but generally more crowded.

mindshifter and farley would know better tho...|

Anyone heading out this weekend in Denve? I might go out to Collette or DJ Dan - just to go out and dance on long weekend. The OM party looks interesting as well.

Thoughts?

I just booked my flight for the Sasha show in Denver. Looking forward to checking out Vinyl. What time do things shut down in Denver club wise and are there after hours events that take place?

Also what are your thougths on Vinyl? How would you compare it to other clubs around the US soundsystem and layout wise?

Thanks

clubs close at 2am (n)
afters is less than a block from vinyl (club is called two:am) usually goes til 5-6

vinyl itself isn't a bad club imo, just the crowd has gotten bad since the real world denver aired (n)

the sound is ok, it gets better depending on where you're standing.

the club itself has a low ceiling and is very dark, giving it a dirty, dare i say 'underground' vibe.

it's better than 1150 [the only club in atl i've ever been to, ironically it was for sasha//porter in 2005] imo

"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge

Cool thanks for the info. Sounds like exactly what I am looking for. Maybe like a club Space type main room vibe?? I am flying out to space Miami in the morning tomorrow for Dubfire and Cedric Gervias on the terrace. I can't wait. Dubfire this month and Sasha next month!!!

See you on the dancefloor.

eh i've never been to space so i wouldn't know, but if i had to guess i'd say the vibe *isn't* similar.

there is a distinct possibility that the crowd is going to suck balls on the sasha//spooky night

There were three e-mails sent out, in total. Look at the first e-mail, how it says "FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2007." That was the reason they retracted the first one. The third one they sent out was fixed to say Tuesday.

And I'll still be going. Official word from the Underworld crew on their forums is that there weren't enough tickets sold; they had been assured by LiveNation the last few weeks that ticket sales and everything would be fine, but it looks like it was LiveNations last minute decision to pull the plug on Red Rocks as a venue. I think that's a good decision, because the whole "Red Rocks experience" wouldn't be the same when you turn around during a tune expecting to see/hear a packed amphitheatre with their arms in the air, only to see a silent, half-empty amphitheatre.

I'm certainly not canceling my trip out, because it's Underworld, it's the only chance on the tour I'll have to see them, it'll be a more intimate show, and the whole trip has a deeper "meaning" for my dad (who I invited out) and I (long story short, I went to Denver with him for his favorite artist when I was 11 or 12, now it's the other way around).

So yea, I'll still be there front and center.

the crowd at space is a little rough too. I doubt Vinyl on a Sasha night will be as much to handle as Space. Although...the only Space experience I've had was WMC...and I'm not sure that's 100% accurate on how Space is the rest of the year.
