this thread will never die!!! lol--i hope everybody has improved their mixing from these discussions :-)
i wanted to let you all know i've continued my work on [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
, and it has come a long way. in fact, you can now add and edit song information over the web--so for those of you who don't use the software but want to contribute you can. there have been over 400 users and more than 140,000 songs submitted already with key and bpm information! so if you haven't check it out come join, if you like this thread you're guaranteed to find it useful...

most any version of java will work. i would recommend 1.4 or higher. i wouldn't be wary of installing it either, as i have never heard of it causing problems.
i spin some instrumental hip hop and knowledge of keys helps... its always fun to slice up phrases which are in key to make new rhythms and melodies :-)
if you're just learning about all the theory i'd read the tutorial on the site, it will explain a lot. the key code might be simpler to understand, but it in the case you pointed out, C#m and Dbm refer to the same key. it so happens you can enter and ending key in the software in case a song changes key. looks like whoever added the song filled in the end key and start key the same (which is unnecessary and redundant). i'll probably fix the server so it doesn't display like that, so as not to confuse people.. hehe
