Yeah, I've seen it mentioned as a genre before, so I guess it exists. Struggling to think of specific examples though - maybe along the lines of the sort of stuff that Martin Accorsi, Tony Thomas and Peace Division (their most recent stuff at least) produce? I've seen Adam Beyer classified as "tribal techno" before and while he probably plays a bit "harder" than Slade (i.e. more tech than tribal) there's still some brilliant stuff (along with some less brilliant stuff) on his EM if you could be bothered tracking it down. Maybe stuff like Chace - Calm Down, Funktion - Seduction or Sars - Overbooking (D-Formation Remix) are closer to the mark? If so I guess I've been a closet fan of Tribal-tech without even realising it...

Pffftt... you obviously didn't get to hear the bootlegged acetate test-pressings then. The B-side beats the version on the CDR hands-down.
