But when you get comments like "I'd have to be chained and dragged to watch such a boring sport" or "So they won? what's the big deal ?.." from the media, I bet it's a bit discouraging to play in this country . .. but then if players don't stay, we won't have a decent teams to start up a good leauge that could spark the interest in the media and general public and boost up Canada's team. Chicken and egg problem.

No way, Malek is right. I work for a sports stats company and according to a recent research, football is the number #1 sport played by young kids in Canada in terms of the amount of players. So yah, might just be a matter of time once all those kids reach 18ish ..
