Ni-Cd's review! part 2

----continued:

I have absolute respect for this guy. he had NO crowd at all in that location. No one wants to vibe in that area, and he was still giving it all he had. I thanked him and gave him the thumbs up. I hope he understands how we respect him for giving it, even when there wasn't an audience. Cheers to you buddy.

So we get to the Guv, and Deep Dish (I think only Sharam was there?) was dropping minimal beatz. Hmmm. As said in the burridge thread, I'm not there yet. My pallate isn't ready for minimal beats yet. My cohorts agreed it wasn't their vibe that night, and we headed back to The Drink! (let's hear it for our locals, w00t w00t)

RandomDoug, chillin' in The Drink.

I'm definitely a Drink convert now. When I'm in there, I feel as though I'm in the center of the Guvernent complex, with rooms all around boxing it in; And there's no chance of some random doors being opened allowing morning day light to pour in (i really hate that--i find it ruins my vibe...like, oh, time to go home. It's day light. Sky is blue, time to cruise.) It's nice and dark in The Drink, and there's the lounge that is quite spacious with lots of room to dance.

The only problem: the subwoofer in the lounge kept cutting in and out!! It was uber-annoying.

So we met up with Witchdoctor & friends up in The Drink, which was way cool. I love partying with this guy, he sure knows his house tunes.

So I asked witchdoctor what the deal was with his necklace thing. Well. I'll let Johnny Action cover that story.

We danced it up in the lounge regardless of the damaged sub, althought to be honest, it was really bugging me, cutting in and out. It was at this point that Ni-Cd's battery started to go empty. True to my nick name, i burned hard and bright, but started to crash big time. Both of the quads in my legs went. If any of you have seen how I dance, it's easy to understand why. The 'pigeon on crack' dance got the best of me. I sorta felt them go, and caught the bar in the lounge to hold me steady. I looked nervously around to see if anyone had 'seen that,' and then dragged myself over by Witchdoctor and his friend.

Yah, it freakin' hurt!!

Like those super-charlie horses you get just lying in bed, my thighs were shaking in locked-muscle-tissue-ness. I figured out real quick, to make it go away, i just had to lie, very very still. So the cramps went away, and I drank lotsa water to rehydrate. I guess dancing it up on Footwork on Friday, and then going nuts to these beats caught up to me.

But did I give up? No sir, I did not. Because something awesome happened I didn't expect. This gentlemen came to the decks, and knocked my socks off, and I leaped up and went into the drink main room with Johnny Action and gave my quads a run for their money.

Review: Addy

KevinT had always told me how addy had blown his socks off. To be honest, I hadn't listened to his sets because they sounded low quality on my stereo; like they were recorded at lower hrz or something... I liked his houseaddict.com radio set, I knew he was solid, but I had never devoted solid attention to his sets, simply because i hadn't been in front of one spun live by him. I met him at cozo a few weeks ago formally, and hadn't really heard him since. People--let me tell you now, this guy got me out of my ripped/torn quad situation and back on the floor dancing hard. The beats he was laying down, absolutely sic. Johnny Action came back to life too, and we were both w00ting it up in the main room. Everyone was feeling it; none of the pushy stuff i felt before. Addy saw me taking pictures and scooped my camera to take a unique angle (love this shot!):

I'm screaming: Who needs legs?! Thx for the pic Addy.

Also nabbed this touching shot of Addy & lighting dude:

Addy's set: 10/10 - i can't believe how it picked me up. Nice. Gave me miracle healing for my legs. Temporary. but it was there.

ALLL too soon it was over, and Deko-ze was stepping up to the decks.

Review: Deko-Ze

I'm never disappointed by Deko-ze. The guy is ALWAYS ON. Who does that?! He picked up from Addy and just kept it pounding... their vibe was totally equatable, and it was like addy never left the decks, and Deko-ze was always there. Boom boom BOOM, hammering us with tracks. De-koze stuck tracks together, flipping from one to another, where you swear, there was no way to make em match. Yet he did. Like dropping (not sure of title) "Do you, remember" with "A bit patchy". NEAT!! And 'Put your hands up for detroit' with some SIC beat intermingled.

Deko-Ze score: 10/10 (Addy and Deko-ze, the highlights of my night with their killer sets that made me a para-peligic (sp?))

That reminds me! There was this older woman who turned to me and said 'i want to kiss him!' I thought, ok, you're messed up. Enjoy yourself. Then she said 'do you doubt it? Watch how a grandma of 50 can get a kiss from a young pretty thing like that!' I was like, 'you're on!!' so she snuck up there, but Deko-ze blew her a kiss instead of giving her one direct. You know, kudos for her for trying, and having the grace to do it in a way that didn't interrupt Deko-Ze's set. One cool grandma.

We found Besma up there gr00vin, and we gr00ved right along with her. We were all lovin' the beats. House Addicts in full force eh? How many of us were there? I bet lots.

We were all completely drenched. It was UNBELIEVABLY hot in there, but the music was dragging us in like an all natural high (and it was), and were taken by it. We didn't even notice how stuffy and hot it was.

We couldn't stay for the whole thing. I knew I'd need my legs for the clutch (standard transmission), so Johnny and I sorrowfully slipped away. There was rumours of Johnny taking Lea and missy to Cozo...so i didn't want to hamper that, if Lea was feeling up to it. So we sorrowfully exited the guv.

Johnny Action: startled by the cold & the light

Got home, still partying, w00t w00t. Time to dig out those Addy sets i didn't listen to before, alright.

Conclusions:

let's face it people. Our residents are awesome. They fill the house addict need like no one else does. These all access events, with the big international names? To me, that's just bonus, and wider variety/exposure. All of this talent to be explored, appreciated, savoured. Paul Oakenfold's tracks were great, in the big sound rooms, but The Drink rocked-my-socks last night, and I'm totally sold on our residents as being absolute star spinners. Once again, I extend my thanks to these fine gents for their CONTINUED deliverance of mind-blowing sounds that we have all come to appreciate so much.

The night: 9/10!! (hey, can't be perfect...but it was damn close).

Special thanks to Johnny Action for finding that thing for me that I lost. Man. You've got horse shoes! (or I do). And for being my party buddy all night. I can't WAIT to read his perspective and see his pix.

Great review highroller, really *thumbs up*. Appreciate the detail you went into complete with naming tracks...your experience with deepdish was similar to mine; and spot on with Miss Nine. Thanks for putting the time in for your review!

These things provide entertainment for hours. A distant relative of the killer-death-stools from the koolhaus, these things are nigh invisible in the gallery tent area. After i took this picture, some poor sod went flying over one of them. Johnny and I couldn't help but laugh and help him up. Freakin' ninja ottomans.

Hahahaha. I died when I read this because it's so true.

Awesome. Thanks man. The version he played had no lyrics though. Anyone know where I can hear a sample of the version with no lyrics?
