defending is not about jumping and blocking

it's quite useless to have a small guard when it takes is for a 6 and half footer to take half step back for a jump shot

Gotta say that the signing of Jack is defo solid.
I like the electricity Nate Robinson brings but Jack is a better overall player...
let alone the fact he's not a defensive liability.

You always gotta love a guy who can (in spurts) run the team from the 1 and score some at the 2.
And be able to hold his own defensively from both spots as well.
One thing i like is he's not a player who forces up shots just to score - its the 1-man's mind in him.
Jack's not REALLY underrated, but underrated nonetheless.

Good pick up.

Apparently the Raps trade Devean George to Golden State for Marco Bellinelli.

Looks like Delfino is probably out now.

Sources: Raptors nab Belinelli

By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 40 minutes ago

Yahoo! Sports

The Toronto Raptors’ intrigue with running a European-modeled franchise advanced again with a trade for Golden State guard Marco Belinelli(notes), NBA sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday night.

The Raptors will send Devean George(notes) to the Warriors.

Belinelli, an Italian guard, was a favorite of Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo prior to the 2007 draft when the Warriors selected him with the 18th pick. Belinelli averaged nearly nine points a game for Golden State last season. He joins fellow Italian Andrea Bargnani(notes) on the Raptors roster.

George, 31, arrived in Toronto this summer as part of the Shawn Marion(notes) sign-and-trade with Dallas. He averaged 3.4 points a game for the Mavericks.

sweet deal!

hmmmm...it does kind of make Delfino redundant, doesn't it. With Calderon Jack, Ukic, Derozan, Banks and now Belinelli, that's a pretty full back court.

do they have anything left to spend or was most/all of the mid-level used to sign Jack?

Delfino could have been brought on (and still could) because of his Bird rights. so maybe they still sign Delfino...and trade him to bring aboard a SF to backup Turkoglu? I don't think Antoine Wright is really the answer there.

BC continues to surprise us!

I like that we traded somebody as useless as Devean George and got a younger talent in return. At the same time though, this does nothing to really help the team. More of the same in my opinion. I guess BC is set on creating the most 1-dimensional team in the league.

I don't know how he sold this deal on the warriors, but I'm glad he did. But I agree with you guys, this is another jump shooter, and we're still lacking quality to attack the rim.

apparently the Raps added cash to the deal, which explains the 'steal' it otherwise appears to be on the surface.

agreed it's hardly an impact move, but once again BC creates something from nothing. the Raps get a player who's price and contract length result in no additional burden vs. the player they gave up and, given his age, has far more upside too.

Odom stays with the Lakers...smart move for them. Subtracting Ariza and Odom and adding Artest does not equal "repeat" in my eyes. Miami must be disappointed...they're going to suck again next year unless they make a move.

as per Doug Smith's blog in the Toronto Star...

Ukic + Delfino to the Bucks for Amir Johnson and Sonny Weems.

another solid move, IMHO. With Evans and Amir, the front court is a lot deeper than last year.

I'd been hearing the rumors all day....I think its a good deal...the front court is going to be strong. Delfino wasn't going to play for the Raps anyhow.

Another good move, but I'm still disappointed in losing Roko. AFAIK, the deal could have been done without the Ukic-Weems swap, and that's how I would have done the deal.
