I watched The Devil Wears Prada yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed it, mainly because it's more than what it appears to be. On face value it's a "chick flick" about a naive young woman that goes to New York and lands a job for a large fashion publishing firm. She soon learns that there's more to her job than originally thought.
Her lack of fashion sense makes for some fun quotes.
Peel back a layer and then we're served a commentary about what fashion means to those in the upper echelons of the industry and how everyone, whether active participant or not, is somehow influenced by it.
Then there's the whole sub theme for which the movie gets its title - selling one's soul and the trade off that we may be willing to make in order to advance in career, life, and wardrobe.
Meryl Streep delivers a brilliant performance as the big boss, an Anne Hathaway as naive young Andy Sachs is delectable.
The soundtrack is also rockin' - featuring U2, Madonna, Jamiroquai, and Moby to name a few.
I give it 3 Pradas and 2 Guccis.

I thought The Departed was insanely good, one of the best movies ive ever seen! If you like the Resevoir Dogs esque dynamic suspence kind of movies you will love The Departed.
If you liked The Departed watch the Infernal Affairs trilogy, the movies that inspired it. They are filmed in Hong Kong and stars Andy Lau and Tony Leung who are pretty good actors in their own right. The first two parts are good (number 1 being the standout) while number 3 is too hard to follow sometimes and is a bit over the top.
Anyway if you dont mind reading subtitles (or can speak cantonese) then check out Infernal Affairs cos they are definately worth watching!

our brilliant heroine returns with her final installment in this brilliant brilliant series. all our favourite characters return in this movie-length finale and its the same old daria goodness as usual. sarcastic truthful observsations at their best. any daria fans should buy the 2 movies on DVD (amazon.ca is your friend) so mtv will be motivated to release the entire series. slack fucks.

James Bond - Casino Royale was fantastic!
I love the new (or should I say old?) Bond. He's so much more of a working class guy and so much cooler. Much closer to the real Bond in the books.
His attitude is great, so arrogant with a massive ego (though I guess that's how he's supposed to be in the first movie). A perfect example is in the beginning when the burnt black guy throws the gun at him and he throws it right back at him. Haha, classic.
Also the torture scene, though don't I won't say too much so as to spoil it.
Great story with a few plot twists.
The locations are amazing, the action sequences are long and very well done, the car is beautiful. Everything you expect from a Bond flick. No gadgets this time but the first movie isn't supposed to have any.
I got a little bit lost a couple of times during the movie and had to really think about what was going on, but that's about the only complaint.
Definite must see. Probably the best movie out this year.
4.5 stars out of 5

I forgot to mention that it runs for more than 2.5 hours. Don't you just love long movies!
