My selection comes from one of the dj's who had a major impact on the club that i called home on Sunday mornings for over a year.... Boa-Redux. The dj i speak of, Demi. This set is the first part of four, in what i recall as one of my favourite nights ever in the Far East Theatre. The vibe was rocking right from the get go, with Sean Miller building the night up to a very energetic crowd. This night was themed the 'Madhatter Party', people were sporting funky lids, girls were on stage in next to nothing, and the people were ready to rock out to the early morn.
Demi stepped up to the decks, and proceeded to pollute the room with dirty sounds right from the get go. The first track, starts off with an infectious bassline that seems to glide to the sound of the drum, and gradually eases into an electro banger. He then gets a little druggy and twisted with a track that has some serious pops, piano's, a violin, and then a whole lot of bleeps and crazy shit. Perfect four in the morning kind of track. The bongos come alive shortly after, with a sleezy female vocal ('i dont know where i stand, no i dont'). This track gets dark, deep and sexy, and sets the tone for the next segment of the set that i feel really represents Boa-Redux at its peak of existance.
At the 22:00 mark, this is where the crowd completely lost their marbles for the rest of the night. A fun, uptempo, housey track comes in at this point, with a nice little build up that had the crowd in a frenzy. The tracks to follow were brilliant. The mixing.... flawless. He seemed to blend tribal, disco, house, and progressive without any effort what so ever and i was just completely blown away. I'll just let you listen and be the judge. The next half hour is just stellar.
Enjoy.
