Anyone else get turned away at the door for Hallofreakin'ween in Denver?
I found a brief explanation on the Triad Dragons website saying that the original venue didn't have the parking lot finished in time so it was a last minute thing to hold it at the Palladium. Now, the question I have is this: did they sell walk-in tickets and, if so, they knew it was a smaller venue, why did they sell walk-up tickets beyond what had been pre-paid?
I was very, VERY disappointed by the handling of this - I was turned away at midnight from the show - I can't imagine how many more people showed up and had the same treatment. I know they have stated they will be issuing refunds to those who did not get in with pre-pays but I have no idea how they will do this so I won't hold my breath.
In the end, I will think very little of attending another one of these big shows - Skylab offered redemption in the form of a much better venue and I was hoping they would continue that. "Parking lot not finished" is no excuse to me - for an event this large, get your shit straight from the get-go - especially that many months in advance and with a lineup like that. Usually, I am very forgiving with my reviews of parties but is just ridiculous. |
Parking lot issue was never the case! Triad's never posted that. The original venue was going to be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, the same place where Skylab was held but the venue screwed them over. The setup was amazing considering the short notice for the promoters to move the show. It's even a miracle that this show even happened do to the short notice.... The promoter stood outside and argued with the Adams sherrif forever not to shut down the show. The reason why they had to turn away people... They did everything in their power to bring the masses a great event and I know for a fact that the Paladium was literally the only venue available in the entire state and that's what they had to settle for!! They were also fucked by the city citing that suddenly the off duty cops that they had for security in the original venue would not be available. That they needed them downtown for the World Series... For scrambling at the last minute, Im sure it was a banged up job.
By the way, ALL the headliners played. Sander asked to play before PVD because his music is much slower than PVD's. It's good thinking in Sander's part so this is why Sander and The Crystal Method switched the time they were originaly supposed to play at. Kaskade played last in the second room near the main stage.
