You're worried about "the world's powers"?

And what exactly do you mean by that?

Nou merely concerns himself with the military (that he has no association with) and it secrets (to which he is most certainly not privy to) amid his own personal security (of which is guaranteed by his station in life).

Your fake outrage is hilarious and disgusting, all at once. Par the course.

Assange might be a pile of shit as a person, but Wikileaks represents so very much more than himself, and I am very much in line with him being crucified if it ensures their proliferation; which might just be compromised by his personal compromise. It's quite a dilemma. Regardless, due process will see him live, and fascism will see him martyred. Pick one, you idiot cunt.

The info that wikileaks released directly affected people that had no reason to be put in danger. The man willfully acts to undermine legitimate operations conducted by the international community, not just the US, but many nations including the UK, Australia, Canada, and many Western European nations.

He has a childish and ill-informed view of how government should be allowed to operate and how the relationship between the state and the citizen works.

Happening right now: The UK is preparing to break international law and storm the Ecuadorian Embassy in order stop WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's bid for political asylum.

Live video streams from the Embassy:

my problem with wikileaks is that to remain truly impartial, they have to leak anything and everything they get their hands on. there's no judgement, because that itself implies some kind of bias. for instance, i didnt get what the benefits were to mankind when the diplomatic cables were leaked. those private communications are what enable countries to talk to/about each other without shit hitting the fan. free and "open" communication between nations is pretty important i think.

but of course, there exist examples where leaking did serve the public interest (imo).

ambivalent on this one.

edit: oh, and lol @ the nou assessment of course

War sucks, shit happens, figure out how to not repeat it and move on, or don't start them in the first place.

are you implying that the public should not be kept informed about wars that they're paying for? is it not in the public interest for rich, comfortable citizens to be shown the outcomes of their vote or opinion or whatever?

Where did I imply that?

They should be kept informed, but there is a lot of things that do not need to come out during the course of it, or even soon after due to the nature of how things are done and keeping sources and intelligence secure.

There are plenty of incidents were civilians get killed in war, that is the price that comes with it.

I have no problem with that video, they legitimately thought that they were engaging enemy. There was actual enemy contact in that area during the time those people were engaged. Its a shame that the wrong people ended up dead, but like I said, it happens, you learn from it, you revise your procedures and you figure out how to prevent it in the future.

I know Apache and UAV operators, and none of them are out there blood-lusting to kill civilians.
