This is where I guess we disagree. That was hardly a jab or, for that matter, an unprovoked comment. It was more like a vent, and one that I only voiced here because that's how I managed to let it out and I still don't know how I can effectively say that to those who need to hear it.

It was my reaction to the difference in discourse between the Brazilian community (who is in general largely religious) and the natives around here. You don't hear the Japanese (except for the small religious minorities) say that we should pray/meditate/think-happy-thoughts unless it agrees with their stoicism and their get-up-and-work-already mentality. The Brazilians keep waiting for some pie in the sky where their problems will all be resolved by a higher power. In the context I find myself in, slacktivism - religious or otherwise - is not just an excuse to feel yourself better when you're doing little at all, but an inexcusable escapism we should try to avoid.

I didn't know how to effectively say it where I am, so I decided to humorously post a sardonic plea here where we're usually free to vent.

Or you could be a fucking moron and invent shit in your head like "what if this obviously fake image is true, would the government tell us" and go on living a scared, pathetic life of paranoia and mistrust that is based on ignorance and self-loathing.

EASY THERE, DOCTOR SCIENCE!!!

I think acting as though you know what is happening in a nuclear reactor in Japan that has been through a disaster because you've read up some articles on the internet is more foolish than asking a hypothetical question and admitting not knowing the answer to it.

I know the image is fake, ******. Let me spell my post out for you so that you can understand what I am trying to say. I am NOT saying that the image is real. Nor am I saying that it is going to happen. Much like a human being with an imagination, or a sci fi writer, i'm wondering what would happen if it WERE true. The answers to my questions are no more attainable than the ones about the fukishima reactors, but I think they're more interesting to debate about, personally.

So would they tell us, and is it possible to evacuate millions of people in 10 days?

The government wouldn't have to tell us, we'd know from Japan and from the international community monitoring the situation. Even then though, YES, the US government would tell you. Why would they not? What would they possibly gain from NOT telling you?

Yea they do, except all the ones in Kansai looked the same to me, at least for Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka... Also they are on everything, buildings, manhole covers, telephone poles...

I'm amazed there's even a few houses still standing so close to the shoreline, considering the devastation in that picture. Someone needs to find the company that built those houses and get them to rebuild everything!
