here's the story of where i'm going tonight and why...



ong story behind it :P
my mum came from a town in sicily called Marineo, and people started to emigrate from there in the mid-late 1800s.. and in 1898 they formed an organization in devotion to the patron saint of Marineo, Saint Ciro... and my mum was part of the last emigration from this town in the late 60s, 70s... and back then, this club served as a haven for new imigrants to find work, learn english, seek a home, etc.. nowadays, there are 2 factions (in brooklyn and new jersey) and we're all pretty much americanized and there are no immigrants anymore so we just preserve the language, culture, and pray to the St.. anyhoo, every year for the past 40-50 years they've had a ball where they honor one person as man of the year for outstanding achievements..

and this year, it's the first ever Woman of the year.. and it's my mom!!

i feel like a proud parent hehehe
