I'm a bit worried that my traps are becoming over-developed and out of proportion to the rest of my body. The thing is I never target them, ever. They just seem to grow of their own accord.

Wasn't aware that was a "diet" but I've been doing something similar for a few months now.

No fruit except bananas (fucking love those), lots of vegetables, ground beef, eggs, (some) milk and very little bread (the whole grain stuff).

Can't say how much weight it's made me loose seeing as all the running I've been doing blurs the picture, but I do feel pretty awesome.

been so busy at work and completely thrown off that i haven't had more than 3 decent workouts a week if i even make it to the gym. kicking that habit and walking to a gym 2mi away then gonna do upper body some h.i.i.t. then sauna for 30min.

on another note does anyone else get the feeling that most people don't know what they are talking about when it comes to exercise? i'm not an expert but i hear people bitch about not losing weight then i ask what they do exactly when they "work out" and to me they aren't doing much of anything. for the last decade i've heard the same thing from one friend and i'm no longer buying that "some people are just heavy" excuse. then heard some co-workers talking about what they do and imo once again they don't do much of anything and i said so in a nice way then i got snapped at. oh well.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

Most people do not do enough exercise to lose any significant amount of weight from exercise alone anyway. A good hour of exercising might burn 500 or 600 calories, and that is if you are going harder than most people are willing to go. On top of that, probably 80% of people will follow their exercise by "rewarding" themselves with fast food burgers, supersize sugary drink, and biggie fries, so any calorie burn is negated or even overcompensated for within the day. They overestimate what they burn and underestimate what they take in. They might get stronger or more aerobically fit if they keep at it, but they will probably not shed the fat.

I know exactly what you mean. I've never really bought into the "It's genetic" excuse, or even the "You've just got a fast metabolism" one. If you continue to burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.

I used to be very thin. I had a BMI of 17.5, or something like that. The amount of people concerned about their own weight who would criticise me, tell me I was too thin or I looked bad eventually wore me out so much I started eating and working out just to shut people up. I heard every fucking excuse and justification for people's weight in the book, even when it wasn't prompted.

Basically, most people treat their weight like they do any other part of their life: they refuse to take responsibility for it and blame external factors as much as possible.

I love fat people that lie and say "I eat right and work out hard, and I'll just never be thin" when you just know they're gorging on whatever the fuck they get their hands on when nobody's looking. Lying about what you eat isn't doing US any favours, and nobody fucking believes you anyway, lol.

Amen. It all comes to the fact that most people are lazy and have no willpower or self-discipline whatsoever and they feel like shit because they look like shit so they have some strange urge to criticize people whose looks are superior to theirs.

true, depends on the situation though- for the most part i think REALLY fat people are just lying to themselves, whereas slightly overweight/above average weight people haven't figured out how to diet and exercise correctly

I started running again this week- i was sick with a nasty sinus infection for two weeks due to too many insufflated drugs and my doctor told me to stop running til my lungs cleared up. it feels great to get out again, best stress reliever ever. unfortunately it's getting fucking cold in WI so i'm probably gonna have to start utilizing the campus exercise center soon :/ i hate shitty workout facilities

So far I've been surprised in how little temperature matters in my running. Even if it's near 0c, by the time I'm well in my second mile, I'll be hot and sweating. The only difference is in how long it takes me to warm up.

What's gonna stop me is when it starts snowing.

No one knows what they're talking about most of the time, except for the few things they happen to be knowledgeable about (and that's when they bother to actually pay attention to something in particular and learn - be it a formal subject or an informal aspect of life). There's too much to be known and, even then, you can only know so much. We may have hypotheses that have worked thus far, but knowledge isn't much more than that.

That being said, I'm not surprised to find out some people are clueless about how to work out and how to eat. I myself have no problem admitting that I know very little about exercising and nutrition, reason why I feel I'm better off having professionals assisting me. I feel stronger than I've ever been (and I look more athletic, also), and I'm eating healthy now (and even the nutritionist said my diet was actually very good before I went there, and the weekend was all that messed my system up).
