Definitely one of my favorite songs from all of Oakie's '99 Essential Mixes
Indeed. Got the vinyl myself as well, got it long ago along with the "Tales From The Engine Room" album. All the tracks on the album are great but it's Face 1004 which shines out with the Marc Mitchell magic.

Nice! So it was indeed pressed for the Tales From The Engine Room release. Wish I'd been into Marillion at the time, I definitely would've picked up that set!

Yeah i bought the album in midsummer '98 and was amazed to get the vinyl for free with the purchase. I wonder why was the vinyl never given an official release..

I'm surprised as well, given how DJs started playing the song live. I suppose only the Eagle Records ppl know for sure... I found the info stating that 1500 copies were pressed, but it sure is damn hard to find for record with 1500 copies floating around!
Then again, I think it's popped up three different times on eBay w/in the past year. Not very often, but often enough I suppose. I figure most Marillion collectors keep this one pretty close.

Hmm. I think the number of 1500 copies might not be quite true... according to Marc Mitchell himself anyway, he has said closer to only 40 copies have actually ever been pressed. If he's correct or not, i can't confirm.

Yeah... 40 seems pretty low, especially if they were giving the record away as a promotion for that Tales cd. Someone from Marillion *might* know how many were pressed, but Eagle Records would be the ppl in the know. I tried contacting them a few years ago about this 12", never heard back. If someone does get chat w/ them, please let me know what they say!
