I'm scared to watch, I heard of a friend who watched his video and "ran to the bathroom to throw up 15 minutes in."

One hour to perform the surgery! What do you know about recovery time? I have classes that I need to attend. I have surgery in the AM and I know I'll be down for that day at least. Do I need to be in bed for more than that one day? Can I crutch myself to school the next day?

I appreciate any advice that you have Mr. Emil! Our resident physical injury expert.

You didn't tell me if it's going to be open or arthroscopic. Arthroscopic *usually* has less recovery time. But whatever type you have, you'll be screwed for a couple of months, Make sure you do the rehab, can't stress that enough, no matter how boring or how much it will hurt. If you don't rehab correctly, you'll have a longer recovery time.

Sadly, I'm aware of the rehab and I'm not looking forward to what they do to me in therapy. I believe the doctor said he is planning on doing the surgery just like you showed in the video. With the two holes, I believe that's the arthroscopic surgery. He has the MRIs now to see the full extent of the damage, and I am scheduled to meet with him on friday.

Maybe you can tell me why exactly I have very little strength when I want to bend my knee backwards like kicking myself in the ass. Also, why does it not want to go past 90 degrees and bring in a LOT of pain when I try to push the limit past 90 degrees. I thought the muscles had control of that, how do damaged ligaments restrict the movement?

Ligaments are tough connective tissue, they connect bones to bones to form joints. When you "break" or tear a ligament it causes the joint to become unstable. So the tears in your ligaments are preventing your range of motions.

Interesting, I didn't think it would be that unstable to where it wouldn't want to move. What happens if he does go past the range of motion that doesn't cause pain. Will there be more damage to other parts of the knee?

I'm not an expert, but yes, I would think so. Just take it easy till surgery day.

If I keep it in the range of motion it's comfortable in, it feels just like normal. The only pain meds I have are from when I first went to the doctors office back on the 15th. 20 500mg Lortab pills. They have to last until the 23rd of July.

I've heard from other people how had this happen, and they talked a lot about how much it hurt constantly. I guess I got lucky and it doesn't hurt. The swelling's finally gone down a bit after 3 weeks or so. There was one morning last week though where it didn't even want to be walked on, but that went away after a few minutes.

The crappy part right now is that I only have a motorcycle and no car. So I can't quite use the motorcycle with this knee brace. I have to walk everywhere because my friends with cars are off for school break for the next week.
