i used to love hip hop, but most of the new shit sucks. Unfortunately it has become bigger than ever. Around here you cannot get away with anything but hip hop in the clubs, kind of sucks.

re:hiphop dead.. will trance takeover?

i tend to agree with dj digdug and sandleaper... i too started out a hiphopper(this is startin sound like a AA meeting or somethin lol).. but anyways... its not dead, just very much filled with commercial fake gangsta/r&b crap... but then again back in the "golden age" of hiphop MC's were still talkin bout "sucka mcs" and givin the "gas face" to "commerical hiphop"... etc..

just do some lookin... hieroglyphics crew is still makin some great stuff, Little Brother is a crew that has a prodcuer named 9th wonder makin great beats... Ive been diggin a mixcd from Canibiscentral.com that has all kinds of dope songs from Canibis & the 4 horsemen crew(rass kass, kurupt, killah priest & 'Bis)... I dig Mr Lif Aesop Rock too... soo many..

I think what we see and hear on the radio/tv is just so much we cant stand the genre... but thanks to p2p progs Ive been able to hear some new talent that kinda brings it back...

I mean is Trance all about DJ Sammy, Darude, & ATB?(thats pretty much all I hear on commercial radio/tv in the states)No, and thats the same with hiphop and Nelly/50 Cent/Ja Rule...

i dont think trance will "takeover", but we do have a great scene which is still growing... however I dont think we'll reach Love Parade status anytime soon lol... l8ers

No I think it is rubbish to say that. Real hip hop is alive and well in the underground. Artists like X-ecutioners, Talib Kwelli, Wu-Tang Clan bring the real sound of hip hop.

It's just a shame that American pop music is dominated by commercial rap crap by the sounds of Nas, 50 Cent, Jay Z and shit.

You know, if you said to the X-ecutioners, Talib Kwelli and Wu-Tang Clan that Nas is crap! they would laugh in your face. I agree that his new stuff has become commercialised (no argument there), and I can’t stand that song that’s in the charts!! (I can), but i love the track "Made you look", its got a great beat. Nas has been around for a long time, and has some of the best hip hop tracks ever!!, so watch your mouth boy!!

I don’t listern to 50 cent, but he is good, look who he has doing all the production (If you don’t know, then you shouldn't even be talking about this topic!)

"real hip-hop" died with biggy and 2pac ... all these hip-hop artist come'n out now-a-days have no real original talent. (i consider wu-tang up there with biggy and 2pac.) even the old school artist are becomming more commercialized... for example... llcoolj... he was the man when he first dropped back in the day... but now look at him... doing songs with j-blow and crap like that.

first things first...hip hop isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

you know a lot of people out there would say that trance is becoming commerialized and if thats true...then its people like you that are ruining it. i can't believe the crap i'm hearing on hear...it sounds like everyone is saying that they stopped listening to hip hop because they wanted to be cool and different...well let me just explain for those of you that are dumb...if everyone moves from one genre to the next...i.e. you...then you are adding to the problem so leave trance alone.

re:Is real hiphop dead ..etc

i dont know about everyone else... but speaking for myself, I did not start listening to trance because it was the next cool thing... I didn't want to be "cool or different"... just myself lookin for new sounds...

I began listening to trance because of my all around love for music, and trance was a sound that was new and fresh... once I heard my first mixtape, with some Commander Tom, Nostrum, DJ Choci and other old trance, I was hooked...(just like when I heard my first hiphop album... it was that same feeling of excitment all over again)

After hearing that tape I looked up "trance" on napster... and found a lot of stuff that was much different from the acid trance sound and got hooked on other various types of trance...

since then Ive been more into trance than anything else... but when a certain p2p program with a blue bird began I was reunited with hiphop because I was able to "dig" around a find fresh new sounds once again... l8ers

don't bring atb & darude into the mix. we all know they are fucking incredible producers, so don't be mentioning them with these mediocore (half-ass) trashy producers such as the likes of dj sammy.
