Well on one hand I would say no for a few reasons, one their a different sound, two the provide different effects, three the listeners of each genre are looking for something different from each genre. On the other hand I say yes because thats exactly what it did to me, but as far as just flat out replacing hip hop in this country I would say no. Also who says you have to be a thug to listen to hip hop? Number one its clear you dont have all the facts and are making a bias opinion. Hip hop for one is generally not associated with gangster stuff. Its more devoted to music and rhyming skills. Rap on the other the other hand I will agree, rap offers very little that it is entertaining or meaningful because it focuses more on thugging, jewelry, and women, but to say that the only type of people that listen to either are thugs is total non sense and I could go delve deeper into your categorizing and "generalization" but for the interest of a safe sanctity on this forum I will not, all I am saying is that you do not have the facts and youre statement was obviously bias.
