good luck... Armin's a cool cat. He'll prob only stop by for about 45 mins or so then head on, depends on what he has planned before the show. In Chicago the promoter was taking him and David Lewis to a nice restraunt to relax and enjoy Chicago for a bit then head to the show to play. We scheduled our meetup @ 8pm and he didn't show until 9:30 because he was resting from a 13 hour flight from Istanbul. I had to bail at 9:45 b/c I was opening... so I didn't really have time to chat with him but here are some pics from the meetup and night...

I agree Asian (Japanese) food would be nice because of Armin's taste...but be warned, this is San Francisco and finding a place like this that's not crowded and cramped on a Friday evening will be very, very hard.

I've looked around for all kinds of places with a couple miles of 1015 that could certainly hold a good sized group of people for one sitting, and every thing I read on them had the same complaints. Small seating spaces, lagging service (because of it being so busy), very cramped, and noisey (not including Blowfish or Sushi Groove South, which has DJs as a part of its atmosphere).

Yeah, trust me judgement in the end...the guy who hates sushi. Anyhow, I will ask around. But I don't think I've ever seen a slow Sushi joint on a Friday evening

Dave

OK, I've already received quite a few responses...and they all basically say that we are basically SOL for getting a Sushi place that can hold a decent sized party on a Friday night near 1015.

One person I know (who is also a promoter) says that for a Friday, he can really only recommend getting a mainstream place like Chevy's if we need to hold a party of 20 or so....I have a feeling this thing could turn out to be pretty big - as in, bigger than most other ones. I could have a good sized entourage coming with me, although I dunno yet.

As these dinners with Armin continue, word is spreading far beyond these boards.

Hello! AvB Dinner

Peek-a-boo Dave! Thought I'd post here for fun.

Yep, I'm in on the dinner - I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to nab a place that's close by (with decent fish) for such a large group, but I'll do some research too.
