Even though Americans are crap at soccer (football) you seem to have forgotten that the best keeper in the premiership (in most peoples views) at the moment is an American, ie Brad Friedel. |
personally I rate Our keeper Jaaskelainen, Cudicini & Chris Kirkland above Brad

you talk about how boring sports like baseball and football are...you know why no one here likes soccer? because soccer is a complete joke to watch on TV...i mean there's fucking 20 guys on the field and ALL they do is kick the ball back and forth back and forth for 3 hours, the ball usually staying at midfield...and how many total goals are scored each game? like...3? so yeah...you guys can enjoy ur bloody soccer while i'll enjoy my bloody "american football", baseball and basketball
american football probably is a pussy version of rugby...do i really care what you think it is? american football is by far the number one sport and i love it to death, just like europeans or whatever love their soccer
the MLB championships is called the world series because people from all over the world are playing on the teams right now in the world series like the dominican republic, cuba, japan, korea, central america, etc although the teams AREN'T from different parts of the world
and DON'T you call baseball a boring excuse to sit in the stands and eat pretzels and hotdogs and cheer for 5 minutes...obviously thats just coming from a person like you who doesn't understand the sport...baseball isn't called america's pasttime for no reason |
If you sum up any game you can easily say a game is boring...
Tennis : Hit a ball back to each other until one misses
Baseball: Throw a ball, hit a ball, run to a base
Basketball : Throw a ball in a hoop
You get the point? Just because yyou sum up a sport within afew sentences doesnt mean that is all what the sport is about.
AS someone else mentioned, there are 22 players on a field with two 45 minute halves, not three hours.
The statement "world series" implies that it is a competition that world particpates in on a national level. E.g. the rugby world cup at the moment. Now im sure Japan and Cuba have baseball leagues, what if they outshone urs in quality, and all the Cuban, or Japanese players moved to that country to play there? would the competition name change. The whole title of the competition lies an ambiguity of what it means.
I dont like beaseball. i've tried playing it, watching it, understaning it. It takes too long, it last too long and the only time it is interesting is when they make a film based upon it lol "The Fan" with Westly Snipes.

You seriously need to clam down mate. I wasnt having a dig, i was using light sense of humour which i thought the whole thread was about.
Football, or Soccer, is "the" sport of the world, you cannot call it boring or anything because it is the most watched and played sport in the whole world.
I could have been really harsh in my reply, because i am passionate about football, but i also aint rude lol

Just because it is the most popular sport does not mean that he has to enjoy it.

it seems like to me that it actually hurts more to play football with the pads on then it does without the pads. If you have played football (american) before with pads please comment on this. |
thats beacuse when you wear pads, there's more security which in turn leads to more adrenaline for you to want to take someone out at full force... without pads, youre going to be a little less hesitant to hit someone at full force...
American Football - one of the major reasons why this sport is not played in the rest of the world, is because its argubly the most expensive sport to play... the equipment is not cheap at all... when comparing to Soccer, IMO there is much more strategy involved... you have coaches in booths well above the field relaying calls to the headcoach(s) who then relay plays to the players... id like to see some of these big time soccer players (or rugby) take a hit from someone, say, Ronnie Lott in his prime...
Baseball - another expensive sport... this is one sport that you dont necessarily have to be an athlete to play... as Babe Ruth would say "Baseball, i think, is the only real game in this world" (close enough)... just look at pitchers like David Wells, Freddie Garcia... or hitters like Tony Gwynn...
now here's one for you soccer-heads... Baseball was voted in the states as having the most difficult feat in all of sports, hitting a fastball (or baseball in general)... a 95 mph (roughly 155kph) fastball coming from a pitchers hand travelling 60 feet 6 inches to homeplate, takes about 0.45 seconds to hit... less than a split second... it is said that you have about0.2 seconds to decide on whether to swing or not... now accompany that with not knowing whether itll be a fast ball or not... then think about this, Randy Johnson pitches can reach 100mph (roughly 163kph)... yeah, lets see you soccer-heads do that...
and to note, a soccer penalty kick was also listed high, but still not as nearly as hard to do...
search usatoday.com for the section on "most difficult sport feats"
