I'd like to say that the direction this thread needs to go in is not necessarily, "Why is PVD playing the same stuff over and over again," but rather, "Why are you listening to the same DJ over and over again?"
I think it's perfectly fine for a DJ such as PVD to play a consistent set. He is marketing an album and promoting sales, and I hope as a result, getting more people who might otherwise be hooked on Top 40 now hooked on the sounds and sights of the dance music scene.
But it's my opinion that veterans need to take their love for the music a level or two deeper and begin to explore the hundreds and thousands of talented DJs and Producers out there who aren't in the top 10, and who probably haven't made the Top 100 popularity polls, who are nonetheless gifted, talented, and who will blow your fucking mind with their music.
Everyone is griping about the scene dying and they aren't getting support for gigs and record sales on one hand, and on the other, folks are griping that there is the same old same old with same old DJs. I suggest that if everyone takes their support to where there is new music, innovation, and a fresh perspective, you will start to see that there is a lot more than the same 20 tracks over and over and over again.
You might hear something that inspires you, and you'll prolly save a lot of money, too. Pay attention to what's going on underground in your own back yards.
I love PVD and Tiesto and the likes. They have given me some real eye-opening moments. But fans need to keep pushing and holding artists accountable by supporting a competitive marketplace that supports new creativity. |

Yeah, Paul seems to like changing his opening tracks only once in a few months, but then again -- his opening tracks are mad cool. ^_^

I don't think anyone has spread any "hate" in this thread. (Okay, maybe the word "smack" is a little harsh). I think people's concerns are valid.
There's a difference between hate and expressing dissatisfaction, criticism or concern. Clearly people hold him in esteem; that's why they're expecting more out of him.
Any artist worth his salt wants constructive feedback about his work.
As I alluded to before, maybe people are just "growing out of" superstar DJ worship and it's time to move to the next level of dance music appreciation.
Whatever happens, I hope tranceaddict remains a place of free thought and discussion and allows people to voice their concerns. It would be a real disservice to the scene if people were never allowed to say they wished things were better.

OFF TOPIC...please just dont skip to the last page of the post and write something that doesnt really make sence. If you read the posts its Obviousely its not a hate thread and Obviousely i dont hate pvd, i just think he has to change some of the tracks he plays... Dropping the same tracks since 2002 gets old after a while, esp if he plays the same tracks @ the same venues... i dont really care wether its his reflections tour or not, NBY and ATRC have got to go. How many dj's actually double play tracks as much as pvd does it? Sometimes its cool to hear a good unknown song 2x but other then that its bleh..
