Godspeed You Black Emperor is amazing! Their music is so mellow and intense. I currently own all of their albums, and I can honestly say each song is very good.

Im not going to categorize different electronic genres what I listen to, because I suck at it. But anything else what I like to listen to sometimes:

Jazz, Blues,Disco, Funk
Rock/Hard Rock. Sometimes some Rap/Hip-Hop too
I used to be a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin before I found electronic music.

And Classical music can really hit in the spot sometimes.

Pretty much evrything goes exept punk and that nu-metal american shit or whatever you want to call it, e.g. Korn and 'skate punk'. And count in DJ Sammy - Heaven kind of cheesy songs.

Ex-heavy metal fan here, too. Shit either got old or I did. Can still take Jimi Hendrix and the classics. Prefer heavy trance beats over the guitar riffs these days.

wouldn't it be wonderful to have nice riffs in trance songs. It may sound impossible but I think it would work if you do it right...gaah...*Dreams*

I LOVE Classic Rock, especially Pink Floyd and Elton John(greatest live performer I've seen...4 times now!). I'm a big New Age music fan-Enya, Vangelis, Enigma. I love Handel and Beetoven. I listen to everything. All genres of music have good artists....

Well I think most people would classify brands like travis and radiohead as indie rock.

I dont know what indie really means but if you go to sites like bbc , they'd classify those type of bands as indie rock.Who knows, maybe i'm wrong. Not that interested of which music falls into which category.Theres too much genre's nowadays.Radio stations are classifying Tiesto and PVD as POP.Hmm...

Yeah, I used to dig heavy metal too.But got bored of listening to metallica 24/7 during my teeny bopper days.

Anyways, I dont think Rock can ever reach what it achieved from the late 70s to the early 90s.

If you guys listen to a new band called The Darkness, well, lets say the band pretty much sumed up what rock meant in the 80s.They're trying to remake 80s rock with their big hair and silly costumes. It may be a dumb move, but I sincerely respect and appreaciate what they're trying to do.Give it a listen.

Concerning non-EDM:

I love relaxed pop and trip-hop music, Hooverphonic is great. Also love both Dido albums and the new Kosheen album..

For a change, I am considering buying Evanescence - Fallen.

And another great relaxation album is Afterlife - Simplicity Two Thousand.. If I find that one somewhere, I'll surely buy it too..

I'm really into acid jazz. Great stuff like Zero dB. I'm also a huge blues fan, love the old Delta Robert Johnson/Skip James classics. Other than those I really love drum & bass. I got my brother addicted to electronic music, he got me addicted to being a DJ.
