oh, btw, i'm happy with the current size of the american electronica scene. ahah...just the rite size, and room for any committed listeners. If it were to be mainstream the thing is, i'm not afraid of growth of the listeners, i'm afraid that the number of listeners that are not committed to what they're listening to. it's not a connection of emotional growth, or happiness from that one song you hear off the paulvD album. it would be more of an "i'm listening to this becasue it's cool in the states. everyone's doing it". There's mroe to the music. The state's think of it as a drug related scene. Honestly, they can't blame me, because i'm not on anything, nore alcohol, even though it is hard for people to realize that it is a drug. I would think that all the TA's are committed listeners. you don't have to listen 24/7 to be committted but i mean, comon' now, doing it because it's a fad is what america is about. that's not natural. This music is more than what words can explain. And it's more than having numbers prove it to be good.

Dance music is a totally american import. we invented disco, techno, and garage music

NO NO NO NO

you stole it and claimed it as your own

disco was based on the work of a GERMAN GROUP called Kraftwerks. Disco was based on that then house formed....then techno formed from chicago house and what jean michel jarre was doing (he is french btw). Garage formed from house...but had some help with some other producers Francois K (french), Giorgio Moroder (Italian). So to say that you invented it all when it was all based on the electronic sounds of a german group and did I forget to mention that the first dj was english aka jimmy sommerville. You have just been owned, Americans had a decent part in music but so did people from a lot of other countries. If you don't believe me, look it up.

Disco never died and the Europeans never adopted it. The americans took ideas from non americans...push the sound...then non americans took the sound and made their own take on it. So technically it was just full circle.

listen... It's a matter of complicating the music with what WE, westerners, think as the approperiate image.

I don't think it's stupid at all. I'm sorry that you find it appealing to have the whole US love electronica. That's just not what appeals me, and I'd rather it stay underground, and bet more people have the same intentions as me. First off, it is simple that the US does not find it appealing, and therefore it will not sell. And no moolah, then no publicity. it would not sound great in the states if the music were mainstream. it's not really the music that wouldn't sound good, it would moreover be the idea that it is mainstream although the US does not want it? i mean...to want it to be mainstream, and the reality that it will not makes sense right?

I think the numbers are fine, and no numbers need to prove how good it sounds. I don't need it to be mainstream for it to be proved to me that "hey, trance is greattt!". I know it is. And the fact that I can go anywhere in the world and see the same faces is amazing. The scene is like that, where the people who listen are committed. I don't want some lameass people coming into the scene or a club not knowing what this music is. I.E this girl in atlanta just embarrassed the hell out of herself at ferry corsten's gig. she knows he she is, and her boyfriend probably felt like shit for bringing her. Need i say more to defend my position?

But deejays like ferry see her as the future of music. You hook people like that on music, you gain a wider audience. The scene in any music will always have 2 parts the mainstream and the underground.
