Thanks for clarifying what I was trying to say. I really appreciate that. I wasn't aware that I wasn't entitled to an opinion and that I needed someone to interpret my post to help me "establish credibility" on this forum of thousands of people who have better things to do than to scrutinize everyone's posts. Yeah...anyways.

The music that the DJ's play in Hip Hop and Top 40 clubs does sound the same. The vast MAJORITY of them aren't playing unreleased music. The MAJORITY of them are playing hits that everyone knows because you hear it on the radio and on TV. The artists create music, put out Cd's, and then release songs. Those songs get played on the radio and in the clubs. Trance has tons and tons of music that will never be on a CD released by that artist because that was never their intention. If you are buying a CD from a "techno" DJ MOST of the CD's are mixed compilations. Half of the time we are trying to ID songs that we hear when listening to a trance DJ spin and sometimes we have no clue who the actual artist is. How many times do you really need to stop and pause in a Top 40 club or while listening to the radio and ask yourself..."I wonder who the artist is of this song?" It may be a totally different situation in other contires, but in the states trance does not dominate. You can turn on MTV any time of the day and catch a song by Britney Spears or a popular Hip Hop song. How often can you catch something that a trance artist has produced? I never said I hated all of that other music. I'm just over it. Just like I am over hearing breakbeat. Once again...just my opinion. If you can handle that.

Let me add something to this discussion. I have seen you post where you have been rude to people that are "new". If my post isn't being fair to DJ's how fair are you to some of the people on this messageboard? That's like saying that all the people that rip on artists that create "cheesy" music aren't being fair. They are stating their opinion. That's the whole purpose of an open forum.

i don't know about that top 40 argument but i'll echo the fact that there are thousands of trance/techno/house/jungle tracks that will never make it as a release and often go unidentified. this tracks are often dubplates, short run vinyl, promos, white labels, cdr and so on.

from personal experience i can tell you that many underground djs play plenty of unreleased material made by themselves and members of their inter circles, that's why educated goers catch an specific dj; they are familiar with his or her sound and they go to hear that sound.

Look I'm sorry you've taken such offense to my post, but in all honesty it wasn't written to incite such hostile feelings. I never said you aren't entitled to an opinion, and I never said that my wording of your opinion was the correct version of your opinion. In fact stating my own opinion was what I was doing. By definition, I carry a bias towards everything I say - therefore everything I say is mere opinion.

The statement "establish credibility" was meant to show that your opinion of top40DJs and hip-hop DJs was rather biased - it carries with it hints of elitism. I wasn't trying to get you angry, I was asking you to take another look at what you said.

Because I've been stating my own opinion all along and have not been trying to put others down, I feel that the person trying to silence someone else is you, not me - after all, you're implying that I should stop posting because of what you percieve to be a hostile attitude towards other people. Yes, an open messageboard is designed for people to voice their opinions, and I'm pretty sure that I've never told anyone to stop voicing their opinion.

Again, sorry you took such offense, but I really think you're getting the wrong impression from my words.

Tranc3 - ok...let's stop our bickering. Let's agree to disagree. I'm sorry for what I wrote as well...to a degree. I'm not trying to silence you at all. I was in a bitchy mood and what you wrote clearly rubbed me the wrong way. Whether you think it should or shouldn't have is irrelevant. I'm not going to write anymore on this topic so let's leave it at this. Have a good weekend.

Recently happened to a friend of mine:
The owner of the club told him that he can't spin there anymore because the base was to loud and a few bottles of alcohol broke because they fell on the ground behind the bar. The guy is a well skilled dj and the floor was packed so people couldn't complain about anything.
How would you react to something like that ? I honestly think it was b/s to put another dj in his place, but you never know...

Hehehe this thread reminded me of John "00" Flemming in the Ibiza's Children documentary....you know the story where he was spinning and some drunk guy came up to the DJ Booth and asked him for a drink.

He told the guy where the bar was, but the guy wouldn't listen, and wanted to fight him about it!

Retard I've seen that kind of behavior in clubs way too many times.
