exactly! I'd like to check out one of the super parties with a gajillion people attending...but as a rule, I'd rather hear longer sets from a few people than a whole bunch of short ones.

What you'll generally find in the UK is that 90 minute sets are the norm. I can remember reading flyers where a big name dj was advertised as spinning a 2 hour set (and this was considered a big deal out there). I think alot of it has to do with the locality of the dj's in the UK (ie no travelling). Whereas, for the same dj's to spin in North America, its not economically feasible for them to spin anything under 3 hours (2 in the case of Oakenfold). The travel time alone is going to kill them so they might as well make it worth it.

From what I know, North America is the only place where hard dance isn't played at all. However, we have a huge techno and house movement... something you won't see very much of outside of North America. Perhaps we just have so many different genre's that there's no room left for hard dance.

Hard dance only recently became popular in Europe. Up to a couple of years ago it was all about Trance.. There used to be 2 editions of Trance Energy(now there is only one), and most UK/Holland festivals played mostly trance. But these days Hard Trance/Hard Dance/Hardstyle is definitely taking over.. I would not be surprised if US/Canada will catch up a year or so from now.. We are somewhat late in dance movements, but we get there eventually..

Well, it's not impossible to book Tiesto/PVD/Armin/Ferry/ ++ 50 more Djs for the same night.. But it's very improbable.

It's very difficult to book two DJs of such high calibre on the same night here in Canada. Not only are all these DJs extremely expensive, but it's also very difficult to book them all for one night. I'm not sure how Biggy from Aria did this, but he must've gotten very lucky.

very good point i bet you in 3 years fergie and others will be here every week. They had hard dance nights in ibiza last summer so it is possible but probably will occur at a later date in canada

This is a great point. Its the trickle down effect( or maybe trickle over) Canada is close to three years ahead of the states. So one can only assume that Europe is ahead of canada. You can see it in clothes, music, etc. I'm not sure why this happens, but i've been watching it for awhile now and it does happen.

well they are ahead of us quite simple. Also i think in some respect the old colony empire relationship is still there and this is an example
