ROFL

That's a good point, when I first joined it seemed to even be a friendlier, more helpful, and more in-depth forum. But even after the addition of thousands of new members, it still retains some or most of those values. With the general increase in population, there was an increase in people complaining, flaming, hating, etc.

But it still is the #1 source of electronic music (ie. Trance) on the internet.

The worst part about it is that it seems as if everyone (not only TiTs but everyone) needs to watch what they ask, needs to make sure they don't ask a question others might find as "simple" or "common-sense." I have to watch what I ask sometimes as well, anticipating the typical "OMG Are you stupid" or "WTF Do you know what a SEARCH button is" which is pretty sad and degrades these forums.

Well initially my aim was to see if there are other forums that are active with the people who got tired of saying, no DJ sammy sucks, and repeating the same thread topics over and over,

I am sad to say it but i have also greatly drifted from trance, songs that once made me giddy, now only bore me greatly, however there are certain genres of trance i love to death still, and am addicted to thus i am still a trance addict, but the likes of PVD and Tiesto really dont do much for me anymore, however they are not an accurate depiction of all trance to say the least, they are just the front runners, the paint, not the soul embodiment of the genre,

And in using this front runner analogy, i guess this thread also meant to say, where the hell are the people who have moved past the layer of paint? The people who can start a thread where flames are not present, this forum actually drains you haha, it makes many members weary with the amount of flaming needed but at the same time i have enjoyed my time here, and i feel it is a very knowledgeable area, i recently started posting on progaddict too but the activity is so sparse it would be nice if that was like a sub section here or something.

So all in all, old farts moan on, just make sure you got your favorite ch00nz blaring, cause all that 00 and 01 trance still sounds good to me from time to time, and the older you go before that the better it gets,

I guess in my regression of tastes i found my love for psytrance while at the same time as any music fan needs new material i began to enjoy techno and progressive, but rather than most prog elitists i am somewhat envious of the newbies, the "OMFGers" cause you only get that peak of euphoria once, I still get it, but from different elements

All in all, I was curious how many older posters are still around, cause they are alot nicer to talk to sometimes than having to reteach every n00b. We were all new once, but how many crops do we have to raise lolz,

I know that this is a "big kid" thread or whatever and that I'm way out of my league for posting in here, but I strongly disagree with that idea. I've gone from knowing very little about trance to knowing a ton b/c of kind, encouraging veteran trance addicts. I came here b/c I wanted to learn about trance, not because I already knew everything.

I know it can be annoying seeing the same threads over and over, (I've only been here 3 weeks and I've already seen several threads repeated ) but please don't blame that on the newer members, or take your frustration out on them when they post. Thats a forum problem, and not their fault.

Ok let the criticizing of this NOOB begin

Dude you are not out of your league here. I'm one of the older members (mid-2001) and it is ridiculous the way people have gone about complaining recently. Some people that registered 1 year or 2 ago already think they own this forum and this website. No one here has the right to say "we're getting too many new people" or "they need to stop posting all these threads" or "they shouldn't post that it's stupid." All members here follow rules, new or old, no one has the right to say "don't post that" or "don't reply in here." Bunch of idiots are running around that just because they registered here before you did, they believe they are on some sort of higher level. When in actuality, they were probably more ignorant about trance than you were when you got here, and they asked the same old questions, and we all gave them the same old answers. That's how life is, especially with a music style like trance. We want more people, we want more exposure, we should be teaching newer fans... if you want a special type of music that only you and your 3 buddies know and are a part of, then go experiment on laundry detergent buckets. TA belongs to Swamper, period. If you dislike TA for any reason, go to site like trance.nu.

That idea of asking newbies 100 questions is fuckin pathetic.

I'm writing this reply because it's sad the way some peeps respond to new fans... grow the fuck up, this isn't yours.

Some very good points. Not everyone knows about trance and newbie come here all the time and get flamed for saying stupid things, like that their favorite dj is dj sammy or something. In my opinion, people should listen to what they want as long as they love it and listen to it. It was cheese that brought some of us to trance in the first place.

I guess if us regulars come here regularly we see a pattern of the same topics, for example: what is your favorite dj, liveset, track at the moment, how do i dj, what do i need to dj, what do i need to produce etc. etc....

After a while it gets tired to responding to the same exact topic more than 2 or 3 times. Therefore, noobs gotta be directed to the search button

I guess the bigger the forum, like a city, the more unhappy people are? who knows, may be its just a myth.

I understand your point. The problem here is with the concept of growth. Yes, we have all answered those questions "Who's your favorite DJ, song, liveset... how do you DJ, produce, shoutcast..." etc. I've answered those questions just like how they were answered for me at one point. And it does get tiring, but the key here is, the tranceaddicts WE taught, the ones joining after 2001, they should be the ones teaching the new wave of TAs... for them it shouldn't be too annoying or tiring to answer those questions, it should be fun since they have not been exposed to much of it yet. Don't complain and whine about having to answer newbie questions everyday, let the TAs that are JUST NOW becoming knowledgeable in trance to teach them. It is not the "veteran" TAs responsibility to answer everything. Life works following this concept in many many aspects obviously. If we don't follow this, that's when we get all the whining/complaining/moaning...

Pass down the torch.
