I'm just curious... was anyone disappointed at all with your experience at Liquid?
Okay, the reason I ask is... I used to love to go party @ Liquid. I was there when it first opened, and continued going fairly regularly, until I moved away. Always good music, good crowd, friendly barstaff, etc. I flew in Friday afternoon, from Houston, to go to the show with some friends. I was pumped. I mean, I knew it had to be a good sign that driving away from the airport... all of the sudden PVD is spinning on (106.7? I think that's it). The mood was set, and I was stoked.
Fast forward to 11:30 p.m. The valet sucked, but we overlooked that, and headed inside. We had prepurchased tickets, so we didn't have to wait in line. It was crowded, but that's okay.
PVD gets on the decks- HOLY JEEZE, the club is INSTANTLY packed. I couldn't stand in one place, for people running into me. I mean, seriously, we're talking about a can of sardines here. So, I move closer to the door. The crowd gets thicker.
While I am thoroughly enjoying the music, I can't help but get more and more frustrated with the increasing number of people in the club. The club was obviously over it's posted occupancy, and I was honestly waiting for the fire marshall to come shut the party down. I mean, what is the POINT of selling tickets pre-event, with the "hurry up and buy them before they're sold out", when you're going to let ANYONE that will wait in line come in anyway?
And, wait. Just before I thought it could not get any worse- THE HEATER COMES ON. Yes folks, it appears that the management turned on the heaters to get rid of some of the excess people. It worked. They were piling out the doors. That's okay, though. They got their money, and the money of the steady stream of people that continued to come in all night. (preshow tix were 20, door- 30, and for an extra 15, you got to skip the line).
Not only did they turn on the heaters to thin the crowd, they RAN OUT OF BOTTLED WATER. They were also seriously understaffed in the bars. For an event like this, they really do need to have some extra bartenders, to help serve patrons who are rapidly consuming beverages.
Meh. I really hate to be a grumpy butt about it, but I am totally disappointed. PVD rocked, don't get me wrong, but I feel like the potential for my good time was jacked by someone who was just in it for the money. Maybe I'm getting old, but I think I would have rather sat at home, or been driving in the car and listened to him play a set on the radio, than to have to go and deal with the clusterfunk that was Liquid.

it isnt Dallas, you have to go to the show expecting that... every PvD show is exactly like that,... minus the heater part which i never felt,... i wont knock your decision to see PvD which was an excellent idea but fly to a place where its going to be a much longer set,...5hrs-Space-Miami, 6hrs-Roxy-New York, 5hrs-Folsom-San Fran, 4hrs-Central Park-New York,.... houston to dallas isnt that far of a drive at all,...

I understand exactly what you're saying, and it's not like I expected the place to not be crowded, but I think they let the club get entirely TOO crowded. I guess I've gotten spoiled, because the last few shows I've seen, I've had excellent experiences. Or, maybe I'm just getting too old, and my expectations are too high.
Oh, and regarding the driving...
I'm not allowed to drive 45N. Period. I have horrible luck, and something happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I make that drive. I mean, we're talking- I've been towed back home 3 times, because something horribly random broke on my car. And, I don't drive a junker, which is what makes it so wierd. Last time, I had to leave my car there for a week, rent a car to drive home, and fly back the next week to get it. Not gonna do that anymore.
Anyway. Thanks for taking the time to read my longass post, full of griping.

The concert was awesome! Only bad thing I never like about huge shoulder to shoulder crowds, is the freakin body heat. Everyone was drenched in sweat.
THE BASS WAS INTENSE!!! We were standing like right in front of the speakers and the bass was extreme. My ear drums were ringin for 2 days after that night.
I liked the DJ who played before PVD came out. I thought his set was pretty good. Anyone know who he was and what tracks he played??

Yah, there was one track he played that the crowd went nuts over near the end of his set.
Ive heard this track many of times. It sounds like a chinese guy chanting in the background to the beat, brief seconds throughout the track.
Ive asked so many people what the name of the track is, but no one seems to know.
