It sucks when any dj plays that cant mix - international or local!!
After hearing the likes of Cam, Diggs & morro, Muli and god knows how many other "up & coming" djs - i honestly cant understand why people still have the same respect for the old guard that after so many years in the scene SHOULD be able to mix to perfection but cant!!
I suppose it all comes down to our society's fetish for brand names....

I tend to agree with the comment about the up and coming DJs mixing as good or better than the main stream popular trance DJs.
I think it's because we arer all trying really hard to be good.. and the only thing we can really be good at is our mixng, then track selection.. then maybe interaction with the crowd etc.
PS - this event would most likely be going ahead in early June.
I think I said it before, but I'll say it again:
I promise to have THE BEST sound, and THE BEST lighting for this event I have some very clever people who will be working with us!

For me its always been tracklisting...
Yes mixing is important, and its always awesome to hear someone hold a long mix, that works in the scope of the whole journey. Nonetheless, what frustrates me is when I hear one DJ play the same tunes I heard another DJ play a couple of weeks before but in a different order... Or Djs trying to copy a tiesto / armin / ferry / etc etc set instead of playing their own style and being original.
So for me its all about whats in their crate and the order which they play it rather than the mixing... because when it comes to mixing it isnt really that difficult.

i think Matt Darey is a great idea for a trance international, who wouldnt be too expensive.
Cor Fijneman is another one.
i would love to see him live, however im not sure he would have that much pulling power as not too many 'trance-fiends' would know of him.
*sigh*
i know this is a bit far-fetched, but wouldn't Markus Schulz fall into the category of prog/trance international who wouldnt be too expensive, maybe even Darey and Schulz?? i dunnoo
however i guess it comes down to unfortunately what will get the punters through the doors and not what is actually quality music.
i think any of those 3 names: Schulz, Fijneman, Darey
would be good value, and hopefully would fill the club.
what about someone like Infusion, maybe they'd be willing to do a cheaper gig for the sake of 'the-scene'.
who knows...

I hope that wasn't said to be a bad thing???
About the mixing thing, sure mixing is important but also so is tracklist. I mean if there was a 2 Djs playing on the same night, one Dj plays full of anthems but poorly mixed, the Dj after him plays all poor song but flawless mixing.. which would you enjoy?
tbh try get Mark Dynamix , now that'll be nicee!!
btw Muli, Dreas done that Havannah song, also done Sonic Rush + Morning Snow... i'm sure you've heard of him, but yeh i think i do agree with you though.. Dreas isn't that popular to draw the crowds yet. Though were having a exclusive mix by him to be on Rush Nova 969 to probably popularize the name more... hope its better for him to get recognized

also consider that matt darey plays the gay clubs on his tours as well. This means he will play 2 gigs in the same city without necessarily splitting the same crowds. result = lower tour costs. And his website lists him as being in oz/nz in april.
as for mixing, i get told my mixes are fine all the time when I can tell they are complete crap. Unless they are really really bad, most people can't tell much difference. remember, we all hang around and talk about this sort of stuff a lot and pay attention to it, most clubbers don't.
