Kate: I showed up with about $12. I was intending to buy Ferry a drink, but then I heard that Luce was really expensive...so I decided to play it safe and save my cash, so I did. And I'm glad I did because Luce charges $5 COAT CHECK and $5 WATER! However, I think you have a point, I didn't forsee that. Sorry, my mistake Anyway, things went very well regardless
So here's the *detailed* version of what happened, for those who weren't there.
I got to Subeez around 9, and the other TAs showed up pretty quickly. It was great seeing all the TAs I know and all the others I haven't yet met We went in and got a table around 9:30, Ferry shortly appeared after that, accompanied by Ronald van Gelderen, Anne Savage and Lisa Lashes Looks like my organizational efforts paid off alot better than I expected
Ferry and Ronald chatted it up with us for a while, some great stories from Ferry as well (that one about the Avalon Boston show I was at is going to make me laugh for the rest of my life ) Elena, I DID give you a mention, and Ferry signing Caleb's record was cool too Sean, what was that CD you gave to Ferry?
Around 10 everybody started going to the club (thanks for the ride Earl). I got to the door just before 10:30 with a couple other TAs. I didn't like the attitude of the door people...watching the bouncers argue with Anne Savage about her ID was classic! (They wouldn't let her in for like 20 minutes, OMG that was mint ) Finally they let us in...I didn't like the venue itself that much. Crowd was nice enough, but the place is TOO DAMN SMALL and, as I said, damned fucking expensive. Nice setup though.
Ronald van Gelderen played a bloody superb set. Somewhat darker stuff, a little techish in places, just the way I like my trance Really got the crowd going, the whole place was really pumped for Ferry. He came on around midnight, and his set was pretty good. He went for an extra hour too (more on that later). He played his trademark melodic trance for a while, then got a bit techy, then trancey, then techy, then trancey...the flow of his set was pretty weird IMO, I thought Ronald played a better set. But the crowd was loving it, so whatever. I went nuts when he dropped Right of Way (of course ) and was dancing right up near the speaker, which turned out to be a mistake Anyway I hope my dancing was better tonight than it was at Viva
I left around 2 and stood outside helping Vlad and Jimmy give out flyers for Insomnia until Ferry's set was over. He played some good tracks but we were freezing our asses off so we were all wishing he would stop playing, was pretty funny cause the bouncers were all doing the same thing ("these songs are like 20 minutes long each!" one said ) Ferry ended around 3. A bunch of random people asked me to take their picture outside the club, then I got a ride back uptown with Vlad (thanks buddy).
It was an awesome night and an awesome show! Had a great time I pity those who missed it.
And BTW, I have new info on the John '00' Fleming show, straight from Azim: he says the show isn't actually happening, that tour date is a mistake on J00F's website...but he tells me Twisted is trying to bring J00F here though.
