does anyone think its about bumming his own label to the max? a large proportion of the asot tracks end up on armada or one of the sub labels... discuss.. theres lots of perspectives on this i know.

that's my opinion

he is pushing average tracks by sub average producers and the kiddies are eating it up and he is making a ton of dough from it. Nothing wrong with making a ton of dough but I think the quality of the productions has hit a brand new low. Then you have kids who want to be like their heroes and they don't realize that uniqueness makes the big names. Armin is probably making so much money, that he really does not care.

at the end of the day, if you dont like what he plays dont listen.

well if people sing their praises thats their opinion, whether you agree with it or not you have to respect their views, as for producing how he used to, same could be said for every producer out there.

Their styles change as they do, they progress with the times. Too much of a good thing could be bad, which is why id like to see 1998-99 years put to rest, no one today could emulate them.

That's true. But people act as if no one is entitled to a negative opinion of Armin, either, which I find frustrating. Further, I have reasons why I hold the opinion I have of Armin, and I haven't heard any convincing counterargument. The purpose of the board is discussion.

On the contrary, I feel that the current style of Dutch trance is desperately trying to press the last life out of 1999's legacy, rather than growing past it.

Very valid points, im all for discussion about DJ's but its when certain members start to reply with such unintelligent responses to topics. Certainly one of the reasons why i dont regulary visit this site, glad there is at least one who can hold a decent convo with lol

Im sorry i dont agree with that point, the dutch style i think no way captures the huge euphoric breakdowns with the addictive melodic hooks which made 1999 so popular.

In general i think people complain too much about trance, there will never be a day when everyone is happy with how the industry is going. People will always have the comments to make about how its sounding so similar and formulaic, personally i couldnt give two hoots what the construction of it was, if it makes me dance then im game. For those that concentrate and generally just like being awkward complaining that trance is never good then i recommend that they start producing their own stuff, if they can do better then lets hear what they can come up with

The only time you hear a positive comment about avb, tiesto, pvd or ferry is in a thread bashing one of the others.

That made me think of something.

If all the active tranceaddict board members were stranded on a desert island a la Lord of the Flies, I wonder what groups would form? I bet we would factionalize based on certain DJ allegiances, first and foremost, with genre preferences secondary.

The next question, of course, would be what groups come to violence first (assuming no one set up a rule of law). Which would eventually come to dominate? How many would be killed in the process?

Okay, that enough out of me.
