that is a very true point. it may just be t.a and we maybe be weirdo's in front of pc's (very smart weirdos in lethals case) but the fact we're allowed to have an opinion and voice it to certain extents is a very good thing to which we should be greatful

Bragi: i wasnt having a go at you for earning 80K +. I was having a go at the fact you wanted to question the fact that your tax savings is being taken fromt he homeless etc. There is no doubt that you work damn fucking hard to be earning a good salary, so my point is why feel sorry, cause you deserve a tax cut as much as anyone else does. Thats what i was trying to say.

That's me in the corner, That's me in the spotlight, I'm Losing my religion, Trying to keep up with you ,And I don't know if I can do it, Oh no, I've said too much,I haven't said enough, I thought that I heard you laughing, I thought that I heard you sing, I think I thought I saw you try.

But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream

Health is fawked, education is fawked, single people under 50K get nothing, its a pathetic attempt at grabbing votes from young families and the rich, nothing more, nothing less

But thats ok, we dont need money for Universities, as we've allowed them to raise fees by 25% (and we'll continue this trend until only the rich can afford university, then we will be really known as the "lucky country - not the smart one" - but thats another story), and hospitals dont need funding, cos its the states' fault.

looks like john lost my vote, again... wont matter, im unfortunate enough to live in a suburb full of like minded liberals who are completely clueless, so my vote wont change much.

done.

you can't make this as simple as wanting tax cuts lowers down and hit super-high incomes more. Stats I heard last night say to increase one tax threshold from $21,600 by $1000 costs over $1billion in tax to the government, cos that threshold increase would flow throught to high incomes as well, which defies the purpose.
hitting people on $250k+ which has been mentioned here, where does the investment money go if you start doing that? people on that sort of money employ professional tax dodgers to avoid this sort of thing, so again it would be counterproductive.
on the subject of a good democracy, debate is vital. Remember not to take this debate personally or it starts to lose value. I also belive compulsory voting is the greatest threat to strong democracy. People who don't want to vote, don't listen to issues and don't really have strong opinions are forced to vote. They'll vote on a whim. Get rid of compulsory voting, people who want to have input will still vote, and (i hope) it would force our politicians to put more work into serious issues, and less into cheap stunts to get the votes of those who really don't care.

It was like that for me when I lived on the North Shore then the Northern Beaches.
It does help to really find out who is close in the election though to make your vote count. Last year at the State Election I found out it was very close between a Liberal and an Independent
The Independent Won!
