I have to say all customer service is shit. Anywhere I go I am treated like I am a moron, or just badly in general.
But I work in customer service, so I know what it is like to deal with the bullshit half the customers come up with.
Although I hate to admit this, I work in a gas station. I get customers freaking on me about the gas prices all the time. WHAT THE FUCK DO I HAVE TO DO WITH IT?!?!?!? It's not like I decided to change it to 94.9! Fucking morons! I know it sucks that it's that high, I have to pay it too, but do you really have to reem me out because of it?
Or I will get the assholes, that no matter how hard you try to please them, they get angry, or will be completely rude. I am not a robot, and I hate having things demanded from me. What ever happened to please and thank you?
Sometimes I feel like telling people to take their business elsewhere because I just don't want to put up with them. It's stressful to deal with someone really negative or cranky, and you are expected to be all cheery back to them.
I am much more willing to try harder to serve people when they treat me with respect and dignity. If you are going to be a fucking prick, than you can deal with it right back.
For god sakes, half the people in customer service are getting $7.15 anyways! Like that's going to encourage them to try harder!
So, in conclusion, I think it all boils down to the customers, and the managers! If businesses offered their employees more opportunity to move up, or earn more an hour, they would try harder. And if customers would just remember to be polite and courteous to their servers, they will be served better.
Edit: Oh and I suggest not pissing off the people who are making your food...
