Mate, the vocals absolutely ruin what was a top-notch uplifting track. The breakdown was beautifully atmospheric, the vocals just desecrate it by whinging about some dead person

Indeed, one can criticize these lyrics. If the song was sung by a man, then I'd have to shoot somebody.
However, if you study court life, these lyrics represent realistic feelings that some people actually feel. In other words, they relate to real world feelings that people have for each other. It is my belief that songs relating to court life are the most powerful.
