Does anyone have some good recent deeper techno CDs?

And please do not come up with the obvious Mauro Picotto and Chris Liebing CDs, that's not deep. Liebing's one is just a hitparade on CD1 and an attempt to jump on the minimal bandwagon (getting more and more popular, at least over here in Western Europe)..

LOL... not targeting Dieselboy but there are definitely a lot of dark steppy DnB tracks that sound the same like this -- an analog of the trance supersaw I suppose. The basslines use the bandpass squelchy filter and go Wahhh wa waaa waaaaaaaaaaa as you said, while the same sort of BOOM---CHICK! BOOMCHICK! beat blasts along with it. Occasionally you get a synth riff or some misc. effects tossed at you or the bass will cut off as the hihats keep going sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh... and then it's back to Wahhh waaaa waaa weooooooo weoooo weooooo... and onto the next track, which surprisingly (or not) sounds the same

They're pretty much interchangeable, like pairs of blue jeans. Although they won't last you as long.

basd: Man oh man am I hoping Richie Hawtin releases a 3rd installment in his DE9 series. The first two of those I really enjoyed.

Well, at least I haven't noticed him playing minimal before.. I can imagine him playing a bit more minimal at the beginning of longer sets, though. I'm not that much of a fan of Liebing, so I'll admit I don't know everything about him or his sets

It's just a bit too obvious to me that Liebing, who is as you will agree undoubtedly not too well known for playing minimal to most people, is releasing a minimal-influenced CD just at the very moment in time that minimal is really getting 'mainstream' attention (as an example, Awakenings Festival had a separate minimal stage this year, last year they had an electro stage, a style which was quite popular back then).

Each to his own of course, and I am not blaming him in any way for doing it, I just found it to be quite particular.


To aspergian: Not too fond of those Hawtin albums, but I haven't heard them in a great while, maybe they'll appeal to me more now, since my preferences are always changing.. Thanks for mentioning them anyway.
