yellow margarine is not permitted for one simple reason. Butter is naturally yellow and that law was put in place to safeguard farmer's market share against the industrialy produced margarine.

A product with the same color and taste as butter would be considered as butter, even tho its not. blablabla

stupid debate, but one must understand its context, because such laws don't appear from out of nowhere.
