old style mtv (when the televised the old dance programmes)
radio one friday nights
essential mix
trance addict
at the moment round about ian van dahl, but listening to pvd also
branching out into listening styles, hard trance
Starting listening to a little bit of prog, max graham, james holden
getting more into prog, satoshi tomiie
Starting listen to prog house
Started listen to breaks

Now listen to most of those styles, except early stuff which i now regard to be simplisitic, and no more than a stepping stone.

damn ive had a strange musical journey, i guess it started off with oldeis, marvin gay, al green, temptations, carlos santana most of theses where influenced by my parents.

then i started junior high, this is where i got into bands like nrivana, sound garden, NIN, RHC, i was also into rapers like, coolio, snoop, dre, warren g.

then highschool started, a little i mean breif moment of my life was mtv, eminem, blink 182, korn, staind, christina aguillara.

then i decided not to be trendy. started to listining to more serious bands, tool (a perfect circle), smashing pumpkins, everclear, system of a down, (old) green day, older stuff like, eagles, beatles, pink floyd, led zepplinn, iorn maiden.

then i started college, more joke songs like, adam sandler, tenacious d, and cheezy dance stuff like, darude, ace of base, and anthmes from the likes of atb, dj jean. ( i think i was really mad at music at this point for not having anything good come out anymore so i was in search of something better).

Then i really started to listining to some cheese, stuff like, kylie minougue, dj encore, lasgo, dj sammy, moby, fatboy slim, fragma.

then i found music, from sources like, di.fm, eternaltrance.com, it opend my eyes to edm, and all of its sub genres, now i listen to lots and lots of edm, from deephouse, to goa trance, its all good, but i still love my trance more then the others.

i wasnt really in to anything b4 trance and dance, all i knew is that i prefered songs without vocals (mayb a few with ) nd always like the choruses of songs without the vocals.

Then oneday a girl gave me pete tong summer 98 compilation (the album with the strawberrys on the front) nd got hooked to the constant mixing style, tune after tune without a gap, ide never heard nething like this b4, and that was it , trance ever since (age 15 ).

Interesting thread. Here's my chronological evolution of my taste of music.

Rock - 90s Rock
Rap/R&B - Mid 90s Rap...BIG, Tupac, Bone Thug
Trance - found techno/trance at mp3.com...TranceNcontrol

Currently enjoying...acoustic rock, jazz, trance, but no rap/hiphop!!

i really like this topic its very nice

when i was younger i grew up listening to the beatles and other old bands cause thats what my dad would always play in the house
then as i got older i liked madonna and mj and alot of 80's music
i always liked dancey tunes but in america they would play a dance tune on the radio like once a year
then in the late 80's early 90's freestyle started to come big and i really liked it cause it was the only dance stuff i could find when i was younger
then i started to like alternative music but i still liked dance music but it was hard to get here in the states
in high school i was back to dance stuff they would play on the radio
then in about 99 i heard trance and from there on i finally realized this is the kind of dance music i want to be listening to for the rest of my life i started to find as much of it as i can
so as the order of trance goes first i liked...
epic stuff back in 99 to 2001
then i liked hard trance and house
then in 2002 i was back to epic and some progressive
2003 i first started to listen to marco v kinda stuff
and today iam into epic stuff and tech-trance and some techno
