I first discovered the early German trance in 1993 from a cassette which one of my cousins gave me. I liked it a lot, but I never exactly knew what to call this kind of music till by chance I discovered Cosmic Baby's album titled "Thinking About Myself" and a compilation titled "Logic Trance 2" in late 1994. However, completely by chance in April 1995 Grace's "Not Over Yet" sent me down a different path of UK Trance/Progressive house and led me onto UK based labels like Perfecto, Platipus, Limbo etc.

96-97 I'd say. Listened to oldschool jungle, techno and then eventually came across trance via the media exposure the Hyperstate parties that took place in Oslo back then got.

after 1998 trance started to get much better and new styles started forming. not to say that before 1998 trance sucked.

I started listening to Trance in 2002, I guess. I randomly checked out some of Tiesto's work on Kazaa (for sampling purposes only, of course) due to somebody just randomly recommending it to me. I absolutely loved it!
Some of my first Trance faves:
Orbital - Halcyon and On and On (of course first heard this track in 1995 or so with the release of the Mortal Kombat soundtrack - been a fan of it ever since, but it's more ambient techno than trance, so we'll disregard this single in terms of this thread's consideration)
Ayla - Ayla
Tiesto - Theme From Norefjell
Delerium - Silence (Tiesto's ISOS Remix)
Push - The Anthem (Universal Nation, really)
It was all just so energizing, I came to fanatically listen to Oakenfold's radio broadcast each Saturday night on a Colorado Radio Station (93.3's The Eleven ) and decided to pick up Tranceport one day. Music has never been the same since
